    1. [IRL~ROOTS] Planning 1st trip to Ireland - Suggestions Please?
    2. I am attempting to plan a trip to Ireland in July and would like to ask some of the "seasoned travelers" if they would offer some suggestions on how I can make the most of my visit. I have always had problems with geography and would welcome any suggestions on where to stay, where I may locate vital records & cemeteries and any tips that you may have picked up thru your travels. My lineage stems from Offaly: Ballinree, Parsonstown & Muiniagh, Tullamore - Children of: BROWNE, Margaret & MOLLOY, Michael MOLLOY, Laurence John, Norah Annie, Catherine, Rody, Bernard, Anne, Margaret, Mary Bridget, Timothy, Patrick and Thomas I know that a few of the above are buried in Durrow Cemetery but where is this? Ballinagar, Philipstown - Children of: DUNN, Esther & GALLAGHER, Daniel GALLAGHER, Catherine (Kathleen), Mary, James, Daniel and possible Nellie? Thank you for any suggestions and opinions, I feel I am crawling in the dark on this one! Denise Parsons McHenry, Illinois [email protected]

    1. [IRL~ROOTS] Obit: Thomas C. Walsh, M.D.
    2. Jack Walsh
    3. Taken from: Syracuse Herald, Syracuse, NY, Tuesday, September 26, 1922: Dr. Thomas C. Walsh - Dr. Walsh dies while treating woman patient Veteran Physician, Stricken in Office, Succombs Instantly Dr. Thomas C. Walsh, 68, of 255 Kirk Avenue, who died suddenlly Monday afternoon in his office in the Gurney Building, will be buried in Oakwood Cemetery Wednesday afternoon. Private funeral services will be conducted in the home at 2:30 o'clock by the Rev. Dr. Frederick W. Betts, pastor of the First Universalist Church. Dr. Walsh was stricken while treating a patient in his office, 205, the Gurney Building, at 1:45 p.m.yesterday. The patient, a woman, whose name was not learned, became hysterical and ran from the building when the doctor collapsed. Other tenants, alarmed by the screams of the woman went to the office and found the physician unconscious on the floor. Dr. George K. Smith of the Keith theater building was called. After examination, Dr. Smith said that Dr. Walsh evidently died within a few minutes after the attack. He said death was probably the result of a stroke of applexy. Coroner Crane was notified and had the body removed to the county morgue, pending the completion of an investigation. Dr. Walsh had been engaged in the practice of medicine in this city for more than 30 years. He had offices formerly on the north side. He was graduated with the Albany Medical School with the class of 1882. He started to practice medicine in Pulaski, but came here in 1886. he was one of the first in this city to realize the possibilities of electricity in medicine and studied electro-therapeutics enthusiastically. He was recognized as a leader in that line and one of the specialists of the state. Dr. Walsh married Miss Hattie Hubbard of Scriba in 1874. She died in 1879 leaving one daughter, Ida D. Walsh, since dead. In 1887 he married Miss Mary J. Visgar of Alexander Bay. She survives, with a daughter, Miss Grace Walsh, two sons, Clifford W. Walsh and Dr. Thomas E. Walsh, and four brothers, Henry, Frank, and Michael Walsh of this city and John Walsh of Boston. Private funeral services will take place in the home at 2:30 o'clock with the Rev. Fred. Betts, pastor of the First Universalist Church officiating. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery. Dr. Walsh was my great-great-uncle. Anyone having information on him or his parents, Timothy and Catherine Walsh (Welch?), please contact me. John W. Walsh, Rochester, NY [email protected] --- Certified Virus Free. 1. [IRL~ROOTS] Surname PHAIR- early 1800s
    2. Richard Connor
    3. I am trying to trace my family roots in Ireland. My Great Grandfather, Michael Connor, and his wife ALICE ( PHAIR ), arrived in Manchester prior to 1843 - there is no marriage record for them in Manchester. Other than a record confirming that they came from Ireland, there is no note from where. With Connor being such a common name I feel that Alice Phair's name is possibly a route to try to discover where they originated from. Is there anyone who has researched the surname Phair who might be able to help me. Thanks in anticipation. Richard Connor

    1. [IRL~ROOTS] Civil Registration info-James COLEMAN (and my COLEMAN family info)
    2. Hello list, I am trying to find the address of a man who is possibly my gg grandfather in Liverpool. Those of you on the Ireland lists, just please keep reading, this really does go somewhere. I promise! I found in the England and Wales Civil Registration index at Ancestry.com the following... James COLEMAN   Year: 1883 Quarter: December   Record Type: Deaths Volume: 8b   District: Liverpool Page: 70 Can someone tell me if the address would indeed be found on the document and how would I go about getting a copy? If this man lived at 102 Tatlock Street, then there is a very strong possibility that he was my gg grandfather. At least a few things about himself and his family would match with what little I know about my g grandfather James COLEMAN who was born about 1880 in Liverpool. Family has it that my g grandfather was raised in an orphanage from a very young age since his father had died (at sea?) and his mother nor grandmother could no longer care for him. My g grandfather enlisted in Canada to fight with England in W.W.I. His attestation papers show that he was born in Liverpool in 1880. He married Fanny HARLING on December 1, 1906, in the Parish of Thornton, Lancaster (Lancashire). His certificate shows that his father was James COLEMAN (deceased). It also shows that he was 24 years when he married Fanny, which makes his birth year 1881-1882. SSDI shows his birth to be in 1883. Now if my g grandfather was indeed born in 1880, then there is only family in the 1881 census that matches some of the info that I have. Which would be James born in 1880 in Liverpool to a father named James (born in Ireland). I have a certified copy of a birth certificate for this James. It shows the address as 102 Tatlock Street, mother's name Anne COLEMAN formerly KILPATRICK. The same address as on the 1881 census. Here is following info that is on that census... 102 Tatlock St.  Liverpool, Lancashire James COLEMAN     head     painter      age 46      born Ireland Anne      wife       age 37      born Ireland Alice      daughter       age 17       born Ireland John       son       errand boy        age 15       born Ireland Bridget    daughter     scholar      age 11      born Liverpool Annie      daughter     scholar      age 6        born Liverpool Mary      daughter      age 4        born Liverpool Catherine   daughter     age 2     born Liverpool James      son      age 8 months     born Liverpool  Someone did check 102 Tatlock Street for me in the 1891 census. The family no longer lives there. I would love to hear from anyone with a possible connection or info. Thank you in advance for any help on the death cert issue. Good luck in your own research, Ella

    1. [IRL~ROOTS] Looking for O'Neal/Neitz
    2. Christina Womack
    3. Hi all! I’m a newbie, both to this list and to genealogy research. I’m trying to expand on the research completed to date. My family, surname O’Neal, has been traced back to Ireland to Mary Neitz (b. Jan. 18 1776), married to an unknown O’Neal, mother of 10 children. One child, Chesley O’Neal (b. Jan. 5, 1814), came to South Carolina around 1829-1830 and married Sarah A. McGraw. Any information on the Neitz surname in Ireland, the marriage between Neitz/O’Neal, or tips on locating what part of Ireland the O’Neal family may have come from would be greatly appreciated. Surnames in this particular O’Neal tree includes Beatty, Boynton, Coleman, Lile, Mulvaney, Nottingham, Owens, Pettigrew, Sullivan, and others. Cheers!
