    1. RE: Donegal/Philadelphia - McGuire/McGinley
    2. -----Original Message----- My Grandfather, Bernard McGuire, emigrated to the U.S. from Largybrack, Donegal, Ireland on the ship Astoria which sailed from Glasgow and arrived at Ellis Island on 4 Nov 1904. He had two friends with him, also from the same area. All were 22 yrs old (b. 1882). My Grandfather (all of them) went to Philadelphia, apparently to 2220 Shamokin St. to his sister, Mary McGinley. Apparently his two companions were also related to the McGinley's. In the 1910 census there was a Michael McGinley, wife Mary and 3 children living in this neighbourhood. I'm not sure how long my Grandfather remained in the U.S. My Father was born in 1915 in Ireland and had at least one older sister (out of 9 children, only 3 survived but I'm not sure exactly how many were older than my Father). Assuming that he only had one older sister and she was born around 1913, my Grandfather was possibly only in the U.S. for about 8 yrs. I knew my Grandfather, he died in 1977, and knew he'd been in the U.S. but am now interested to know more about his family. My Father died in 1999 and his brother, my Uncle, last year so there is no-one left to ask. My Aunt went to New Zealand in 1950 and never returned. I believe she has two children who may be living in Australia. My Aunt married a John Boyle. This was also one of the names of my Grandfather's traveling companions to the U.S. Any long lost relatives out there that might have a bit of history for me to fill in the blanks? Look forward to hearing from you. Anne Campbell (Living in Germany, born in England, both parents Irish)
