Hi everyone, I am searching for two DEARING/DEERING families in the hopes of connecting the two. Robert DEARING b. c. 1801 in Clones, Monaghan. He appears on the 1837 muster roll of the Militia for the 1837 rebellion in Simcoe County, Ontario, Canada so must have been here before 1837. He appears to have been married before to an Elizabeth?? and we think perhaps that she died before the family's coming to Canada. They had two daughters, Sarah and Ann. They settled in West Gwillimbury, Simcoe County, Ontario Canada. He had two sisters, Ann who married a McCRACKEN b. 1801 ? and Sarah b. 1794 in Clones, Monaghan Ireland. Sarah married John CROSS. The other family is my line. Edward "Gilbert" DEARING possibly form Armagh, but not certain. He was born 1796. He married Eliza GLEESON. three children were born in Ireland- Mary Ann 1838, Robert 1843 and Edward 1846. Two more children were born in Canada- William Hugh 1853 and Robert 1856. They settled originally in St. Vincent Twp., Grey Co. Ontario Canada and later after Gilbert's death the family moved to the Manitoulin Island. Because of a close proximity of Robert's daughter on the Manitoulin and because of the contents of Robert's will, we have reason to believe that Robert and Gilbert were brothers. Does anyone know of these families in Ireland? Any help appreciated.
