    3. Hello all, Searching for any people with the surname CLOUT in Ireland, particularly those descended from George Clout, bc 1809, Kent, a farrier and soldier with the 4th Light Dragoons, stationed in various parts of Ireland from 1846 to 1851. His wife Jane, Anna or Hannah Clout is believed to have died in Ireland at sometime prior to December 1848, possibly in Dublin or Piltown. In December 1848 George married his second wife, Margaret KERWIN, in Athlone. George had three sons from his first marriage, all born in India, two of whom also joined the 4th Light Dragoons in 1851. They were both later [1860 and 1862] discharged from the Regiment in Ireland. Their names were George Clout and James Clout. They may have remained and married in Ireland, as there is no evidence of them living in England. George and his second wife Margaret had four children, including the eldest, Margaret, born in Dublin in around 1850/1851. They finally settled in Ipswich, although George went off to Bermuda as a prison guard, a position which lasted little more than one year, and died on the island in 1869. As Clout is a Kentish name, and not an Irish one, I would be interested in anyone connected to Irish Clouts. Half of the Ipswich family changed their name to Cloud after George's death in 1869. Kind regards, Wendy
