    3. Well, now that we have made it through Christmas and New Year's, it is time to get back to genealogy. Last I looked we were posting roll calls for Country Cork, moving on alphabetically, we are now on to County Donegal. So, all of you with with County Donegal ancestors, it is time for you to start typing...of course, those who missed the beginning of the alphabet or those who have ancestors after Donegal can still post your roll calls. No hard fast rule here....we are doing the weekly county as a reminder. In fact, I just found out one of my ancestors hailed from County Armagh, so I'll be posting a roll call for that county soon. I would also like to take the time to wish all of you a safe, happy and healthy New Year. One more thing, a while back I asked if the listers would like to broaden the scope of the list a bit to include some researching hints that we could all use. I received up to 100 posts and all were favorable to the idea. Now we have almost 900 listers and if any are really against doing this please write me off list. I will wait a week and if is still a go, I'll introduce a topic and we can all add to it as we see fit. -- Pat Connors, Sacramento CA, list admin http://www.connorsgenealogy.com All outgoing mail virus free, scanned by ZoneAlarm AntiVirus

    3. Diane, I did a check of the FHC (BIVRI2) British Isles Vital Record Index #2 disks and found information that may interest you. One entry for your Irwine, Harper family and 16 others from Castlefin. I have no interest or additional knowledge of the Harper surname in Donegal. This is a Roll Call List therefore we are not allowed to post data so proceed to the Donegaleire List, to view the data. 3. Hi, Researching my great grandparents John GALLEN and Margaret MORAN. They were both born in Ireland and I believe John was born in Donegal. They met, married and had children in New Zealand but returned to Ireland when Margaret became ill. Margaret MORAN GALLEN died about 1851. John MORAN died in 1906. A cousin told me that Margaret is buried on the Old Clare Road in Balleybofey, Donegal. Their daughter Cecelia GALLEN came to the US where she met and married Francis GALLAGHER (definitely from Donegal). Have tried, unsuccessfully, to find info from New Zealand or Australia on GALLEN and MORAN. Wonder if anyone here is researching this family. The other Gallen children are: Patrick, John, Edward, Mary Ann and Elizabeth (in that order). Thanks -- and Happy 2nd Day of 2005! Patricia Champaign, Illinois

    3. Hi Folks, Here we go again, I know some of you will be fed up looking at my families from Donegal but I have to keep plodding on and hope that somewhere out there someone will recognise some of the details. Firstly the BOYLE line Charles BOYLE married to Helen GALLOCHER / GALLACHER first found in the 1851 census for the Parish of Campsie in Stirlingshire Scotland. They had three children Ann born circa 1833, Mary 1836 and my ggrandfather James born 1841 - all in Ireland. Charles had a sister Margaret who was also married to a GALLOCHER ( not shown in 1851 Census). She had a son Charles GALLOCHER aged 33 in 1851,his wife was Mary aged 30 and children Catherine aged 7 - all born in Ireland - and Mary aged 2 born in Blantyre Lanarkshire. As far as I know they all came from Donegal - possibly the Glenties / Balleybofey area. Secondly MCMONAGLE line John MCMONAGLE married Bridget BONAR on 2nd May 1877 in the Parish Church in Clonleigh in Donegal Father of Groom was also John MCMONAGLE and father of bride was Denis Bonar. No mentionof mothers. My grandfather, son of John and Bridget was also John MCMONAGLE born 15th February 1878 in Stonefalls, (Tyrone?). There was also a brother Robert MCMONAGLE born 21st January 1882 in Drumineny. Both brothers married sisters in Scotland - Ellen and Jeannie Smith. When John and Bridget came to Scotland they appear to have settled in the Maryhill area of Glasgow. There was at least one other sibling because my father had another cousin called Betty who lived in Maryhill but I do not have any details of her parents. Sorry this is so long and thankyou for taking time to read it. Beth snip . So, all of you with with County Donegal ancestors, it is time > for you to start typing...
