> Here is a website where you can search for records: > https://www.irishgenealogy.ie/csi/csi_main.cfm#Counties I posted this yesterday and since have found more info on this website that has me excited. This is a project where they are combining all the records at the various county heritage/genealogy research centres into an index. Eventually, they are aiming to have the complete country in the database. Why is this exciting? Well, if your ancestor was born before 1864 and you don't know the county of birth, right now the only way to narrow down your choices is to use the Griffith's Valuation and the Tithe Applotments, then pay for research a a number of county centres for an initial search with very little quarantee that you have the correct counties. This new service, when completed, will be able to give you some choices. If you are looking for a marriage, it gives the spouses' names. If you are looking for a baptism, it gives you years. Yes, the research can be costly. I have had it done at County Tipperary Family Research Centre. They searched one baptism for about $20 and when I saw it was my family, I then ordered baptisms and marriages for the family going back another generation for about $70.00. I found it well worth the cost. What I would like to see them do next is unify the costs across the centres. You can get an initial search for one record like I did for $20 from one centre and then another will charge $120 which I think is excessive. -- Pat Connors, Sacramento CA http://www.connorsgenealogy.com All outgoing mail virus free, scanned by ZoneAlarm AntiVirus
