Hello Listers I am new to the list, and to Irish genealogy. My Kennedy family (so far as I have researched) hail from Ballinderry and/or Ballingarry in Co Tipperary. I have Patrick KENNEDY b 1809 in Ballinderry, Co Tipp, and his wife Margaret UNKNOWN b 1816 in Co Tipp. Between the years 1849 and 1854 they moved to Rotherham in Yorkshire, England together with their 4 sons Patrick, Sylvester, John and Michael. Michael (b 1849 )and John (b 1845) were born in Ballinderry, whilst Sylvester (b 1842) was born in Ballingarry and Patrick (junior) (b 1838) is recorded as being born in Tipperary. A daughter Annie was born in 1854 in Bradgate, Rotherham, Yorkshire. I have been lucky enough to locate the family both as the children grew up, then became parents and grandparents, and have rough ideas of marriage dates, and dates of death for Patrick and Margaret. My own line is Michael (b1849), and I have quite good information on this side of the family, his marriage to Sarah Jane Griffin, and their subsequent 10 children. Their son Thomas (later Thomas Patrick) was my grandfather, the youngest of the children, whose mother died when he was between 4 and 14 years old. I have traced Thomas and his father Michael to Barnsley in Yorkshire where they live in lodgings and work as coal hewers. Apart from one of Thomas's sisters, Eliza, I cannot trace any of the other eight children. The family seems to have fragmented after Sarah Jane's death. I have been in touch with a grandaughter of Eliza who remembers her saying that her favourite brother went back to Ireland. I would like to trace this brother in particular for her family to know who he was. I would also like to trace back beyond Patrick and Margaret, but am unsure where I can look. If anyone knows of this family I would love to make contact with them. I have an awful lot of information to share.
