Thank you so much. I have had a quick look alas I couldn't find the Census for LIMERICK, but regardless of that I think it is great as now many other people will be able to take advantage of what you have sent us. I am sure all those on the list will appreciate your effort. I know I do. Thank you once again. hi all, i also was amazed that part of the census survived and i had no problem getting into that free site. alsa, i found out also that limerick did not survive. i do want to mention that for people stuck for records, the mormons have 2 very under-utilized and little advertised surname and townland indexes for land deeds for all of ireland from 1709 into the 20th century. these microfilms list surnames for people that were engaged in land transactions and after 1839 the surname index also lists the county. if you get a hit there would be an associated actual land deed on another microfilm and they are amazing documents that sometimes list whole families as inheritors or witnesses and the actual townlands in a parish where your family bought, sold or leased land. i traced my family over 150 years through these deeds in the absence of church records and censuses. i believe they are listed in the mormon microfilm catalog as "abstracts of land deeds, ireland" bob spearing ----- Original Message ----- From: "drwarner" <drwarner@xtra.co.nz> To: <ireland-roll-calls@rootsweb.com> Sent: Friday, July 13, 2007 1:35 AM Subject: Re: [IRELAND-ROLL-CALLS] Surviving 1851 Census Returns of Ireland > Thank you so much. Hi Bob, Thank you for letting us know about the Mormon's information! I have emailed them and hopefully they will be getting back to me soon. My family came from Glin, Kifergus Parish in Limerick. My ggggrandfather's name was John Kearney. He was born in 1819 in Glin. He immigrated to St. John New Brunswick in 1842, then moved to Sidney Maine in 1843 where he lived until 1845. In 1847 he finally settled for the remainder of his life in Yarmouth Maine. He married Mary Scanlon at some point. I do not know if he married her in Ireland or in Canada or Maine, USA. I hope the Mormon's can shed some more light on John's family! Thank you for the tip!
