    3. My O'Briens came from Kilflyn Glenroe/Ballyorgan. Ballingarry is not to far away. I had one William O'Brien in Pa. Daniel O'Brien went "west." James, Young Daniel, Esther, and Ellen all stayed in NYS. John O/Brien m. Catherine ? and stayed in Kilflyn. There are so many O'Bs in Limerick its amazing. Do you have any Fentons in your line? I went to Kilflyn 2yrs ago and what a beautiful place it is. It is located in the Bally Houra Mountains in the southeast corner of Cty Limerick. 1. [IRELAND-ROLL-CALLS] Significance of "naugh" last name ending
    2. Nancy Possley
    3. Would anyone know if the "naugh" ending on the Irish last name has any significance ?? As in Cava"naugh" and a few other Irish surnames. I have a family of Magoo"naugh" and they are virtually non-existant in Ireland. A close sounding McGoona name has been found in Nevan a short distance from Dublin . I'm sure the Magoonaugh name was a mispelling of their last name when they came to U.S. in the late 1820's and settled in Watertown, Jefferson Cty, N.Y. where two of their children were reported to have been born. Then the family moved on to Dearborn, Wayne Cty, Mich and I have located them there with several different variants of this name. Any thoughts would be appreciated. Thank you, Nancy

    3. Patricia, If it was me , I would initially concentrate on Margaret Quirk & Winifred Downey. for there appears to be a connection there. On the outside, looking in, it could be that when the Griffith's Valuation was taken, in Tipperary, the husbands of Margaret & Winifred may have been deceased, for that was the era of the Great Famine. Others may know more than I, but that is where I would start from. Try and gain access to the church records, write or email the Priest, who knows you might get lucky. Double check this but I think that Ballingary comes under the Diocese of Cashel. Ballingarry, is also known, or used to be known as Gare. It is in the Barony of Slieveardagh.
