I Can tell you that Michael was born abt 1829, Lawrence was born 1832 and John 1833. John came to the US ???. He married Bridget (maiden name unknown). They had a son Patrick. Bridget died in August 1851 and is buried in St. Mary's Cemetery. John then married Ellen, again no maiden name, and had a daughte Catherine. Michael never married. I beleive their mother's name was Honorah. There may have been a sister Bridget. I beleive the father of the boys may have been either John or Lawrence. I had some communications from another Mitchell who adised me that they came from Lickmolassy Portumna, but this proved to be wrong. Some records state that Lawrence come in 1853, I can't prove that. I have the brothers here in the NY State 1855 Census all living in the Rondout Village Kingston, NY John and Lawrence were contractors who built the City Hall in Kingston. Michael was a laborer living with his mother Honorah. Young Patrick was a boatman and saloon keeper in Kingston. This was easy part of my research as I have records from the church and the cemetery deeds. I will be going to Ireland again soon and would like to know from whence they came. The name of the ships they came on etc. etc. 10yrs is a long time. Hi Judy, Sorry, I missed you telling me that there was a John and a Michael MITCHELL. The GV's show that there were three John's in the Parish of Ballynakill in the Townlands of Knockauncarragh, Clonco and Oghilly, and for Michael just one in Ballynakill in Gorteen. The Parish of Ballynakill is therefore common to the three names, so that may be an indication for you. Hi Judy, I have looked at the GV's for Galway ( taken in 1855), and have found there were only two Lawrence Mitchell's . As I didn't have any other names to go on the following are noted. Lawrence MITCHELL County Galway, Townland Derrycrag, Civil Parish Ballynakill ( Leitrim), Barony Leitrim, PLU Loughrea, Province of Connaught. Located 7.5 miles WSW of Portumna. It is a Rectory in the Diocese of Clonfert. and the other Lawrence is... County Galway, Townland Sonnagh Old, Civil Parish Killeenadeema or Kilnadeema, Barony Loughrea, PLU Loughrea. Located 3 miles SW of Loughrea. it is a Vicarage in the Diocese of Clonfert. Do you have any other names to go on, or Lawrence's fathers name ? if so I will try and help you further. Hi, I don't have much on my Joyce's but, what I have is that my grandmother (Catherine Goggins Walsh) her cousin, Nora Joyce married Adolph Menjou (the actor). Family said that Nora was in hospital for a while, in NY. I have lots of info. on Menjou.......I even found a great grandson of Menjou, but after I mailed him all the info. Never heard from him again. Thank you, Michele ************************************** See what's free at http://www.aol.com.
Looking for information about the Moloneys and Flahertys of Clooniff, Moycullen, Galway. Bernard (Bryan) Flaherty is in Griffiths Tax Valuation in 1855. His wife was Mary McDonough. Their daughter Ellen Flaherty married Martin Moloney in the Moycullen church in 1858. Ellen and Martin took over the Flaherty farm in Clooniff in 1864 when Bernard Flaherty died. Ellen Flaherty and Martin Moloney are my great grandparents. I would like to know more about the parents and siblings of Martin Moloney and also about the parents and siblings of Bernard (Bryan) Flaherty and Mary McDonough and would appreciate any information. ************************************** See what's free at http://www.aol.com.

Listers: I am trying to get this DORAN family back to Ireland before the mid 1830s: This Doran Family appears on the 1841 Census of Wigan (Scholes), England. Scholes was a district of Wigan filled with the Irish Diaspora in the 1840s. According to this census the Dorans arrived in England sometime after 1836. Name: Michael Doran Age: 55 Sex: Male Occupation: Cotton Weaver Born: Ireland Margery Doran, 45, Ireland Michael Doran, 15, Cotton Weaver, Ireland John Doran, 15, Cotton Weaver, Ireland James Doran, 13, Cotton Weaver, Ireland Alice, 15, Cotton Weaver, Ireland Margaret, 5, Ireland I originally thought that Michael, John and Alice may have been triplets based on the fact that the 1841 Census entry recorded them all as "15 years of age". However, The instructions to the enumerator as to how to record ages are at the beginning of every enumerator's book and read: “Write the age of every person under 15 years of age as it is stated to you. For persons aged 15 years and upwards, write the lowest term of 5 years within which the age is. Thus - for Persons aged 15 years and under 20 write 15 , 20 years and under 25 write 20. So these three 15 year olds would have been between 15 and 19 years old.” The 1851 UK Census for England has the following information. Notice the name was spelled DOROND not Doran. From the Irish mouth of the informant to the English ear of the Enumerator, something got lost in translation! Name: Michael Dorond, Hand-loom Weaver Age: 65 Estimated birth year: abt 1786 Relation: Head Spouse's name: Margery, Bobbin Winder Gender: Male Where born: Ireland Civil parish: Wigan Ecclesiastical parish: St Catherine County/Island: Lancashire Country: England Street address: 113 Ashton Street, Wigan Registration district: Wigan Sub-registration district: Wigan Household schedule number: 113 Household Members: James Dorond, son, 20, Hand-loom Weaver Margaret Dorond, daughter, 18, Threstle Spinner (Cotton) Margery Dorond, wife, 59, Bobbin Winder Michael Dorond, Head, 65, Hand-loom Weaver Michael Dorond, visitor, 5, Scholar Source Citation: Class: HO107; Piece: 2199; Folio: 259; Page: 35; GSU roll: 87208-87209. Notice John and Alice Doran are on their own during this Census. Alice is living as a lodger at 2 Chapel Street in Wigan and John Doran is also living as a lodger at 179 Nicholas’ Nook, Scholes, Wigan. I wonder who is Michael Dorond, visitor, age 5. Could he be the son of Margaret, age 18? There is a Michael Doran who died in the Wigan Workhouse on 5 March 1865 at the age of 79. I do not know if this is my Michael Doran: Wigan Register: 8c 41. I have sent for the death certificate. ANYBODY RECOGNIZE THIS DORAN FAMILY? Thanks for your help.... Thanks to the Irish Heritage Newsletter...sounds interesting. PORK CISTE (pork & apple casserole pie) A pie casserole made with pork and apple filling topped with crust. I am looking for info on James Lynch & his wife Alice (Caffrey) married 1880 who lived in Durhamstown Co. Meath. The 1901 Census shows them living in Durhamstown, Co. Meath. Children listed are Michael 25, Margaret 17, James 14 , Edward 18, (my Gr. Father) Patrick 13. In the 1911 Census my gr. father (Edward) isn't listed, he came to US in 1909, his brother Patrick isn't listed either, he came over. I would somehow like to find out what happened to the children and possibly when James Lynch & Alice (my great gr. parents) died & where they are buried. Any help is greatly appreciated.
