Have you checked out the IGW County Tipperary website lately? If you are searching your family history in this county, you should check out the site and bookmark it to refer to later. It is located at: http://www.rootsweb.com/~irltip/tipperary.htm The middle of the home page of the site, has the categories of the website and if you click on them, they will take you to another page within the site. Check out the Townlands button. You will come upon a page that has an index for every townland located in Co Tipperary, divided by North and South Ridings. There are over 3,000 townlands in Co Tipperary and so far there is a webpage for over 1,000 of them. Each webpage gives the civil parish, the RC parish, the barony and the Poor Law Union where the townland is located. The page will also give Family History Library film numbers for townland records such as censuses, tithe applotments and the Griffith's Valuations. There are also some links related to the townland plus a surname registry where you can add your surname. Also you may find pictures, records and maps that people have contributed to the site. There is a section devoted to County Tipperary Civil Parishes. On the CP index map, you will find maps of the North and South Ridings with the civil parish colored in for all the CPs online. Each CP page is similiar to the townland page. Plus there are maps of the CP with the townlands deliniated plus a list of all the townlands (and links to their pages) in the CP. The Records sections has links to many websites where there are Co Tipperary records located. It is sectioned off by types of records with descriptions of the records. There are also sections for Maps, Poor Law Unions, Surnames, and Resources. Check out this site, it is a must for County Tipperary researchers. The IGW Tipperary website is constantly evolving. Townland, Civil Parish pages are being added with each new update of the site. If you would like to know about updates to this site and other Ireland GenWeb county websites, there is an announcement list you can join at: http://lists.rootsweb.com/index/other/WorldGenWeb/IGW.html This is not a discussion list but when updates are made to the various IGW county websites, they are announced on this list. -- Pat Connors, Sacramento CA http://www.connorsgenealogy.com
Hi Walton, In response to your recent email, we corresponded about 7 years ago briefly while I was working on my McDermott line. I have Mangan directly connected to me as well as Tuffy and McDermott in Scranton. Today I posted my updated tree on Rootsweb. It is everything I have amassed on my family including Scranton branches. Try a search for Francis Mangan Scranton and it should bring you to someone in my tree and from there you can search my index. My email on the tree at rootsweb is morganplace1@yahoo.com so you know you have the right tree. Happy hunting. Hello Everyone, I am planning on ordering the above record from LDS. The fiche # is 6054480. I also found a book, Register of the Registry of Deeds, Ireland, with surname and county indexes. This is a loose leaf binder with instructions for using the deeds. The call # is 941.5 R23c 2002. Has anyone used these two records together? Does anyone have access to this fiche? Should I order both of them? I am looking for my elusive ancestor John McKearney born 1819 in Glin, Kilfergus, Limerick. I am hoping to do some transcribing of this record as well. Thank you very much! Sincerely, Liz --------------------------------- Pinpoint customers who are looking for what you sell.

I am researching my gr gr grandfather, Patrick Clerkin. He was b about 1828-1830, possibly Co. Monaghan and emigrated to the US about 1847, probably to the port of New Orleans. He was thought to have escorted a sister, Mary but can find nothing on her. Patrick married Martha Cahoon/Calhoun in Botetort Co, Virginia in 1850 and had seven children. About 1870 they migrated to Missouri where he died about 1898. Sons, Matthew, Andrew and William were in Eastern Oregon by 1898 and Martha by 1899. Other children were Ellen, Margaret, Patrick who died young, and Ann, all born in Virginia. Patrick's early years in Ireland are a complete mystery. I have no idea who his parents may have been or siblings other than possibly Mary. Can anyone help me? Hello there Wonder if anyone knows of above families around Nantinan parish, and Ardgoul South particularly? Timothy CONDON came to Australia in 1838 with Bridget nee HOGAN. Don't know what area Biddy was from. Any suggestions or information would be wonderful to try and flesh out the lives of these ancestors - so far the only ones form Ireland! Thanks a lot Meegan Darwin, Australia
RE: Staten Island Marine Hospital, aka, Quarantine Station Below is a list of Irish names taken for the 1850 Richmond County Mortality Schedule. These names were of those that died while in Quarantine in the Staten Island Marine Hospital. This is just one year of deaths 1849-50. We ask if you would be kind enough to pass this list along to your various groups. We seek descendants of these people. Descendants would strongly help our cause of providing a proper reinterment of the exhumed remains to a legal cemetery. Thank you for any consideration that may be given to this urgent request. Good Evening, I am wondering if there is a source for ships arriving from Limerick, specifically Glin, to St. John N.B. in 1842? I am researching John (Mc) Kearney who came to St. John in 1842 from Glin. He was born in Glin in 1819. He married Mary Scanlon at some point. I am trying to figure out if they were married in Ireland or in Canada or Maine. I am also curious about the type of ship he came across on and if he had family with him. Any advice would be great! Thank you! Liz --------------------------------- Get the free Yahoo! toolbar and rest assured with the added security of spyware protection.
