If you have ancestor from Northern Ireland, like I do, you might get some info from this website. It is the website of Ulster Ancestry and they have many free databases that can be searched on line, including some passenger lists. http://www.ulsterancestry.com/ua-free-pages.php -- Pat Connors, Sacramento CA http://www.connorsgenealogy.com All outgoing mail virus free, scanned by ZoneAlarm AntiVirus
On a St Pat's day interview out of Vancouver where they have an "Irish street" with two pubs situated opposite each other, I heard one of the two pub owners explaining the finer points of making "green" beer. His clients were the "younger crowd" while the owner of the second pub, undoubtedly with his nose in the air, claimed his "more reserved crowd" stuck to Guiness properly pumped with a reasonable amount of nitrogen so as not to give it too much gas. Both pubs expected the usual full house from opening to closing. Ah! Such a day is this St. Patrick's. It is perhaps the most universal, non-holiday celebration. -- DAVE FOSTER Victoria BC [email protected] http://members.shaw.ca/davesfamily/

Happy Belated St Patrick's Day! Finally found time to check the email and couldn't believe it! I had 88 messages...hope to try the soda bread recipes. Still looking for Mathew McGurk birthplace. After going to Ireland (and I want to go back) and checking the phone books I think the best bet is Co Tyrone or that area. He was born in August or September in 1821 or 1822. He is buried in a Catholic cemetary in Sandusky, Ohio. I am not sure how to find church records and see when he was baptized. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks. Sue McGurk

Ah sure isn't that grand! Mal .... Looking for Rogers, Butler, Bridges ... Dunleckney and Bagenalstown. 1800 +
It is time to say "Happy Birthday" to Eliza (Brown) Cotter who would have been 179 years old on St. Patrick's Day, Thursday, March 17, 2005. The Liggett Irish heritage comes from Eliza and her husband, William, who came to the U.S. in 1847 from County Armagh in northern Ireland and settled in Carroll County, OH. There are 34 million U.S. residents who claim Irish ancestry. This number is almost nine times the population of Ireland itself (3.9 million). Irish is the nation's second most frequently reported ancestry, trailing only German. An Irish Blessing May God give you: for every storm, a rainbow, for every tear, a smile, for every care, a promise, and a blessing in each trial. For every problem life sends, a faithful friend to share, for every sigh, a sweet song, and an answer for each prayer.

Catherine Quin -----Original Message----- From: ConnorsGenealogy [mailto:[email protected]] Sent: Thursday, 17 March 2005 3:42 p.m. To: [email protected] Subject: [ROLL CALL] ADMIN MSG - St. Pat's Day We have had three messages posted from three different parts of the world and I think that might be a good way to have a roll call for the next 24-48 hours. How about everyone, post a short message saying where they are living, anything going on in your area of note (not political), the weather and how they are going to celebrate the holiday. Happy St Patrick's Day from Sacramento CA. Nothing much going on here of any consequence. The weather is getting warmer, dryer and the trees are starting to blossom and little leaves are starting to pop out of the branches. Today I bought my corn beefs, potatoes and cabbages. However, our family will not celebrate until Saturday when many of us will get together for dinner, brown bread and soda bread. -- Pat Connors, Sacramento CA http://www.connorsgenealogy.com All outgoing mail virus free, scanned by ZoneAlarm AntiVirus ==== IRELAND-ROLL-CALLS Mailing List ==== To Unsubcribe from L: mailto:[email protected] To Unsubscribe from D: mailto:[email protected] Put the single word 'unsubscribe' in the message subject and body
