I have 3 email addresses. I have no problem with giving them one for routine emails and one in case there is a problem and they are unable to get emails to my main email account address. AOL, Yahoo, and Earthlink. They should change the wording and request you give an "alternate" email address if one is available. Nancy
A possible explanation as to why someone would ask for an alternate (or emergency) email address would be so that if there is a problem with one address, ie email being returned to sender for some reason, an alternate address could be used to alert you to the problem. Nancy
Well, now I feel kinda silly. Have it drummed into me by hubbie and son constantly about being careful online. I would hate to miss out if someone finally showed up out of the blue and that's what we are always hoping for, right? Elise Subject: Re: [IRELAND-ROLL-CALLS] Trouble with Lost Cousins?-emergency email
April, did they take you without one? You know, whenever I see something online that needs a phone #, I usually just put in the right amount of 0's to make the #, (000 000 0000). It is always accepted, yet I forgot about it in this particular space. Guess I was just surprised about the "emergency" status. Sounded fishy. Elise

I agree. Why does Lost Cousins need an emergency email address? While some of us think of ourselves as 'desperate researchers, there's no Emergency. Sounds like Lost Cousins is a Scam and is setting up those emergency contact email addresses for SPAM.
