    3. Hello Judy, I have a John Foley who lived in Charlestown Massachusetts in 1858 and married in St. Stephen's church (Boston) to an Elizabeth Cahill from Cambridge, MA. Supposedly they both came from Clare, but I found information on his Civil War Pension application that she came from Cloyne, County Cork. His parents' names were Patrick Foley and Johanna Nagle. Hopefully 2007 will be the year I punch a hole or two in my wall. I reallly would like to know where in Ireland he came from and in what year he emigrated. I'll keep your names in mind. Meg

    3. Pat, I have some cousins with the surname GILCHRIST. My grandmother's sister (Marie K. Masson) married Wesley Carlton Gilchrist (4 Mar 1895-Feb 1964). He was born in Philadelphia, PA. I don't have much information on him: not even parents' names. According to census info his father was born in Scotland, his mother Wales. I have a little more information on their descendents if you're interested. I'm sorry I couldn't help further. 2. Garry McFadden
    3. Best of the Season to fellow researchers: I am researching; Myles, David born abt 1815 Ireland, believed to be from the Limerick, Cork area, and his wife Catherine Ryan born abt 1823 whereabouts unknown. Came to Canada abt 1839-1840. Both were Roman Catholic. No other pre Canada information found to this time. McFadden, Raymond F. and his wife Lillian Sands, who lived in the late 1800's - early 1900's in the Port Huron, Michigan area. Most McFaddens to the best of my knowledge were from county Sligo, Ireland. They were protestant, Church of England I believe. No other information found to this time. Anne O'Leary born about 1883 Manchester, England. She immigrated to Canada with her two brothers (names unknown) about 1900. Family folklore has it that after landing in Montreal, Quebec she never seen or heard from her brothers again. Born of poor parentage and their parents remained in Manchester. She was a Roman Catholic. No other pre Canada information at this time. Thank you for reading my queery, all information really needed and appreciated! Garry McFadden Prince George, BC. 1. Re: [IRELAND-ROLL-CALLS] What's with the Emergency? Trouble with Lost Cousins?
    2. Just don't think of it as an "emergency" email address. If you have more than one email address (I have AOL and Yahoo and Earthlink) then give them an ALTERNATE address that can be used in case your emails cannot be delivered to you for some unforeseen reason (ie, you drop your current ISP and get a new primary email address, Lost Cousins can send future emails to the ALTERNATE address) Do not give Lost Cousins the email address of some other person. If you only have ONE ISP (Internet Service Provider) then you do not have an alternate (emergency) address to give. Remember that although we speak English in both the USA and the UK, some words can have slightly different meanings or uses. When Lost Cousins asks for an "emergency" address, thing of it as an "alternate" address where you may receive email should your primary address not be working. Nancy

    3. Actually Ireland is not listed for Lost Cousins. So don't know if it would do any good to enter any of our lost Irish, unless they managed to get on the 1851 England Census. Gee, I'm disappointed because I had planned on sitting at the computer at first on Cousins, and then the "free Ancestry" so that I wouldn't be tempted by all the fantastic after Christmas sales being held the next few days. Trying not to buy all that stuff I really don't need, just cause it's a great bargain! Elise

    3. Just tried Ancestry again. The passenger lists are still open, as they said they would be till the 31, I think. But I remember when they started out with the free p. lists, there was a special URL you had to go to at first. Do you suppose they have a special one for this offer also, to keep from overloading the site? Who was it that mentioned that they were supposed to be free. Wondered where the info came from? Elise

    1. Re: [IRELAND-ROLL-CALLS] Trouble with Lost Cousins?-emergency email
    2. This is part of the e-mail I received from them when I registered. I never got an e-mail back to tell me my password, so I still cannot get into the site. Here is what they told me about the "Emergency E-mail addy" YOUR EMAIL ADDRESSES When you registered we invited you to enter a second email address (Emergency Contact Email) that we can use when the first one stops working. It doesn't need to be your own address - it could be that of a friend or relative - but ideally it should be through a different email provider. We will only use the 'emergency' address if emails we send to your primary address are returned to us - and we won't reveal any personal information, other than the fact that you're a LostCousins member. Although you may have no intention of changing your address, experience has shown that addresses often change - either because of a change of ISP, or because of some other change of circumstances (change of job, marriage etc). Hotmail addresses seem to have a particularly short life - because these email accounts are closed if you don't use them every month. It's a terrible shame when we find a 'lost cousin', but can't tell the member concerned because his or her email address isn't working. So if you haven't already entered an email address that we can use in emergencies we'd suggest you do so when you change your password (see below).
