These lists began a long time ago by someone else, and then given to me to go on with, will be combined together under one name, in the move, and whilst I am not going to Google Groups, you may if you desire, after all it is your research and its your decision to make, These (3) groups with Obit also have been formed into one name, and have been moved to FACEBOOK, and whilst you all begin to moan and groan about that move, lets consider why Cara has made this decision, and it has not been made lightly I have tossed this thought around for 3 years, and kick myself I never moved things sooner, after all Rootsweb in it's decision to close and keep all the data we have supplied for free never considered anyone as a Owner of lists, my concern is now at my age, ( not old but not young anymore either) is to get everything I have out there, into the public arena for others to use, and ask questions, contrary to common belief you do not have to be part of the daily stupidity of Facebook, this group is simply about Headstones, Cemeteries and Obits wills, and general resaearch of those things, if you do not have account there, and do not wish to make one then you have the option to take down my personal email, and write to me, and ask me for information. I ask you all to do one thing before I begin the arduous task of checking who is active, simply attach to this mail if you are going or gone to Google because I can then remove you from mailing lists, thereby making anything here defunct as is the good workings of a list. By the way I would consider it very good manners not to forward my email to the Google Lists you have joined, as it is copyrighted to me. Now things I considered about this forced move now, and there are a lot I took into consideration for my own ease of sharing THINGS I WANTED. 1- I do not wish to be locked into the rules and regulations of others, I want freedom of my own interest to show though in my research, in my caring and sharing of Irish content. 1- I can Load my own pictures and links and photos to Facebook not have to rely on anyone else. 3- I can allocate certain times I am online and can speak to you in a chat box, or answer questions 4-I have too much vested interest in gathered materials not to share and share my way. OVER ALL CONSIDERATIONS 1- Social Media is ( I was indeed surprised) where most folk are looking to find information on family history and link with people doing same like minded research there is more than one GROUP on here doing same things 2-The way forward with research is a quick snappy message via social media 3- If we want the younger generation to continue in what we began we better get with the times That is but a few things I considered, whilst this page has been set up you will have to send an email to ask for the link to it, its not out there in the public arena and if you have any thoughts on making an account, as you do not have one steps to do so are follow the prompts to get to face book. Kindest regards I am now back at the helm here Cara -
