MAN FATALLY STRICKEN ON DUTY Michael Dailey, Railway Express Messenger, Dies at Mitchell Hospital Forced to leave his post of duty as express messenger on the Milwaukee railroad run between Canton and Rapid City, Michael Dailey, aged 47, 610 North Walts ave., Sioux Falls, succumbed to peritonitis at a Mitchell hospital Thursday night. Mr. Dailey had been in the employ of the American Railway Express company for about a quarter-century. For 20 years, he was assigned to runs on the Omaha railroad, but for the past four or five years has had the assignment which he was on when he became fatally stricken. Born in Ireland Mr. Dailey was born in County Cork, Ireland, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Michael Dailey of that locality. He came to this country with his relatives when he was seven years old and they settled on a farm in Miner county. He attended district schools and grew to manhood in that vicinity. Later he farmed near Clark and thereafter obtained a position with the express company. Mr. Dailey was a member of St. Joseph�s cathedral congregation, the knights of Columbus, the B. P. O. F., and the Brotherhood of Railway Clerks. Was Single Man He was single and is survived by his mother, Mrs. Michael Dailey of Sioux Falls; four brothers, Charles Dailey of Vienna, John Dailey of Huron, Patrick Dailey of Willmar, Minn., Harry Dailey of Camden, N. J. and two sisters, Mrs. Ellen Wallace of Lorraine, Ohio, and Miss Mary Dailey of Sioux Falls. He is also survived by a niece, Miss Sarah Roberts who makes her residence here, and a nephew, James Roberts of the U. S. S. Altair, where is serving with the United States navy, and who formerly lived in Sioux Falls. A total of 10 nephews and nieces live at other points. Vincent Wallace of Lorraine Ohio, a nephew, is visiting at the Dailey home here at this time. Tentative plans are to hold the last rites Monday morning at the St. Joseph�s cathedral, with burial in the local Catholic cemetery under the direction of the Barnett funeral chapel.
