O'Toole, 77, pastor of St. Patrick's Church, 22 Green St., formerly of Clinton, died yesterday in Mercy Hospital, Springfield, after a short illness. He leaves three sisters, Eleanor P. and Veronica H. "Ronnie" O'Toole, both of Clinton, and Theresa M. Douglas of Baltimore, Md.; nieces and nephews; grandnieces and grandnephews. He was born in Clinton, son of Peter and Mary (Davitt) O'Toole. Father O'Toole was a 1934 graduate of Clinton High School, where he was class valedictorian. He graduated magna cum laude from Holy Cross College in Worcester in 1938. He entered Grande Seminary in Montreal in 1939 and was ordained a priest in 1944 in St. Michael's Cathedral, Springfield. He was pastor of St. Patrick's since 1981. He was previously pastor of St. Bridgid's Church in Amherst and St. Joseph's Church in Shelburne Falls. He taught at the College of Our Lady of the Elms in Chicopee and was a curate at Blessed Sacrament Church, Holy Family Church and Holy Cross Church, all in Holyoke. Father O'Toole was appointed pro-synodol judge in 1977. He was previously dean of Hampshire Deanery and had served on the Diocesan Building Commission. He was a Fourth Degree member of the Knights of Columbus and was its chaplain. He would have observed his Golden Jubilee on June 3. The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Saturday with a Mass in St. Patrick's Church, 22 Green St. Graveside services will be at 3 p.m. Saturday in St. John's Cemetery, Lancaster. Calling hours in St. Patrick's Rectory are 7 to 9 tonight and 2 to 4 p.m. tomorrow. Mr. and Mrs. Davis were married July 18, 1971. He was born in Clinton, Mass., son of Harold E. and Katherine (Davitt) Davis, and lived in Rutland, before joining the Navy in 1945. Mr. Davis attended the former Rutland High School and earned a general education diploma in the Navy. He served in the Navy for 26 years, retiring in 1971. He served in Korea and Vietnam during the wars in those countries. He was awarded a Silver Star and three Bronze Stars. Funeral services were held Dec. 30 in Donnie Sowell Funeral Home. He was previously a baker for 12 years at Holy Cross College. Before then, he was a forging assistant at Wyman-Gordon Co. Mr. Davitt was a member of St. Bernard's Church and its former Holy Name Society. I have letters written in April 1940 stating that John H. DuBois, Jr. was living in Belfast in the area of Queens Parade(?) running a rooming house with his sister, Mary. John also had a job as a 'tea sugar'(?) very difficult to read. Can anyone tell me if there is a Queens Parade area in Belfast .. and also what is a 'tea sugar'?? Jan 16, 1950 Patrick McCoy of Cedar Falls Taken by Death Cedar Falls- Patrick H. McCoy, a resident of Cedar Falls for nearly 88 years, died at the Christie Convalescent home, 601 West 12th street, at 2 a.m. Monday, where he had been for about three weeks. Death was due to ailments incident to advanced age. He was born in Queen's county, Ireland, Jan. 21, 1862, and was brought to America and directly to Cedar Falls by his parents, John and Jane McCoy, who had relatives residing here. They made the trip on a sailing ship that took seven weeks to make the passage. Patrick was but three weeks old when they left Ireland. Mr. McCoy married Johanna Cahill in Cedar Falls, Oct. 10, 1893, and they resided here the rest of their lives, with the exception of a few years at Shell Rock. Mr. McCoy was employed by the Rock Island railroad in the maintenance department until he retired at the age of 65. The couple had no children. Mrs. McCoy died here 26 years ago and Mr. McCoy resided alone in the family home at 303 Walnut street until a few weeks ago. He was a lifelong member of St. Patrick's Catholic church here and was also a member of the Holy Name society of St. Patrick's church. He was the last member of his family and is survived only by a few nieces and nephews. These are Charles J., Mary and Margaret Connell and John McCoy, all of this city, and George McCoy of St. Louis, Mo. Funeral will be held at 9 a.m. Wednesday at St. Patrick's church. The rosary will be recited at 7:30 Tuesday evening at the Dahl funeral home where the body now is. March 9, 1950 Mrs. Mary Kelley of Manchester is Dead at Age 90. (Courier Special Service) Manchester, Ia.- Funeral services are in charge of the Shelly funeral home here for Mrs. Mary Leonard Kelley, 90, one of the oldest members of St. Mary's church here and a resident of Manchester for over 46 years, who died at her home here Wednesday following a few days' illness. Rev. Fr. Vincent T. Hoverman will officiate. Burial will be in Calvary cemetery at Ryan. Mary, daughter of the late Thomas and Sarah (Jacken) Leonard, was born May 18, 1859, in Roscommon, Ireland. She received her schooling there and came to New York City at the age of 18 and after a year's residence there came to Independence, Ia., and later to Manchester. She was married at Independence Oct. 29, 1878, to the late Michael Kelley, who died Sept. 6, 1906. The home was made in Manchester, where Mrs. Kelley was a member of St. Mary's church of the Rosary society, and a charter member of the American Legion auxiliary. She made her home with her daughter, Eva, and her son, Ambrose. Surviving Mrs. Kelley are the following children, Mrs. Lena Abbott, Dubuque; Miss Eva Kelley, Ambrose and Leo Kelley, all of Manchester; Mrs. Lillian Pennick and Mrs. Edwin King, both of Des Moines; Albert Kelley, of Los Angeles, Cal; and Berniece Kelley, also of Des Moines. Other survivors include 20 grandchildren, 36 great grandchildren, and eight great great grandchildren. One son, Ed, and two daughters also preceded Mrs. Kelley in death.
