I understand what all of you are saying, and I am sorry you seem to be upset. I thought this was a list to share information. I guess for some we should only share information that applies to them. If it doesn't then there are some who are not interested. Have you ever thought there may be some people who are home bound and cannot get to the library or wherever to get the book? Maybe the sharing done on this list is the main way they get their information. Maybe we all need to have a little more compassion for each other. That's just my two cents, and from here on out I will keep my thoughts to myself. What people need to realize is that the book "Land Owners in Ireland; Return of Owners of Land of One Acre and Upwards in the several Counties, Counties of Cities, and Counties of Towns In Ireland" is a very limited in scope. It is not as extensive a list as Griffith's Valuation, for example. Only a small percentage of landowners had more than one acre. All of the Aherns in Ireland are shown at http://homepages.rootsweb.com/~aherns/ahloii.htm#landowners for example and they total 15 persons, or 14 actually as Charles Ahern owns land in two different counties. Mary Ann, When time allows (and the party pooper knows what he can do if he does not like your offer for lookups on an obit site.....he can UNSUBSCRIBE...everyone has to have a killjoy) anyway, lookup please in Ballyduff or Cork Co (I am told both by senile old relatives), for William and wife Catherine "Kate" (O'Neil) McDonough AND Thomas & wife Ellen Barry. Thank you, I am a very patient person and I know you are called upon by many (so you must be needed on this site) from the responses to your posting, so, whenever time aloows, no rush. At the risk of being bombed as a "party-pooper", (or being jumped on by the list-owner), I thought this was a list to post Obituaries found in Irish records. Lookups for Landowner lists, and queries about specific County records which are NOT obituaries, should go to other more appropriate lists.
Hi Maryann. Its so nice of you to do this research. How about the name Emperor in County Cork or because of the proximity to the border, County Kerry. It's a rare name so I don't suspect you will find many or any under that name. Thanks in advance. Lorne Bentley
Maryann: Would you please look up McGARRY in Roscommon, BYRNE in Sligo and Leitrim and ROGAN in Leitrim. Thank you. Catherine
I apologize as I was one who asked for a lookup. I am sorry to have offended you Mr. Huey. I can assure you it will not happen again. I overlooked the fact this was for obituaries only. Again, I apologize.
