    3. Some of you will know I am the convenor of Saving Graves Western Australia and am fighting the renewal process that has been in place at Karrakatta Cemetery (applies to all Western Australian Cemeteries) since 1986. The practice is outdated and outmoded and I do not believe that all options are being explored and considered. In my opinion the removal of headstones from a grave is legalised desecration. It has been brought to my attention that there are cemeteries in some Australia States and other countries that are considering this process. I would like to know what the current policy is for the removal of headstones on expired tenures and if there has been any policy in place for cemetery renewal that has been abandoned in favour of something else. I would like to know what the cemetery authorities consider a historically significant person buried in any cemetery and what privilege is afforded to graves of defence personal both officially recognised and unrecognised.
