Hello List, I'm trying to find information on my ggggrandfather. Born c1790 His known son James Walsh married Ann Conron. James & Ann had the following children: Patrick b c1837 probably Muckalee He did not emigrate to Sydney Australia withe the other children. Matthew, John,Martin & Ann Matthew arrived in Sydney c1859 I have been unable to prove that Matthew Snr, married a Caroline. A priest gave me that info but had nothing more to give. I have no idea where the cemeteries in Muckalee or Castle Hoel (var spelling) are. Also in the family records Castlecomber has been mentioned. The young Matthew was saide to be in trouble as he refused to bend his knee to the monachy and was arrested, stripped of his name and shipped nameless to the colony of Sydney. On arrival he was put ashore. The story goes that he then took his name back, within 4 years owned a fair bit of the land around what is now Carrington Road and Bronte Road heading toward Clovelly in the eastern suburbs of Sydney. He then sponsored his parents in 1862/3 /4 James & Ann plus his brothers Martin & John and his sister Ann. I am really hunting for Matthew Walsh, his death & burial place. His son James was born in Kilkenny (Muckalee)c1814 we think and died in Sydney NSW Australia. Also the death of the son of James & Ann. PATRICK b 1837. He did not emigrate with the rest of the family so we don't know if he was already deceased around that time of emigration. There was a rumour in the family that there were priests in the family so maybe he had a calling to that. Maybe he just married & had kids. Hiwever Matthew Snr & Patrick (sond of James) must have died in ther area somewhere. Any help at all would be appreciated Paddy Walsh Sydney, Australia near Bondi where all the Walsh kids grew up
