    3. Sending this to several lists, so please excuse duplications. I am interested in the history of, and any information on, the CUIRCK surname. I was told at the National Library in Dublin that it would have been pronounced the same as KIRK. My father once said that he had heard that our last name originally started with a "C." We are Catholic. I found a tombstone in the Walterstown Cemetery SE of Navan, Co. Meath, for James(d.1955) and Ellen(d.1971) McCUIRCK of Dean Hill. Thanks to that nice guy, Pete Schermerhorn, in the glorious Berkshire hills of western Massachusetts, I know that Dean Hill is a neighborhood in Navan. If you want to see a photo of the tombtone, contact me off-list. Many of the families from Walterstown were/are present in the village in Quebec where my father was born (Ste. Sophie): BYRNE, GORMAN, GRIFFIN, HANLON, KELLY, McKENNA, MULLEN, O'NEILL, REID, & SCULLY. Christopher McKENNA was born in Walterstown circa 1792/1794. He married Catherine MULVANY/MULVANEY (b.circa 1799) and their first child, Christopher, was born in Ireland 1818/1820. My aunt married their descendant, John McKENNA, in Ste. Sophie, Quebec, Canada. Thanks for any information, Margaret Kirk
