I know my ggg grandfather was called James Monaghan, he was married to Mary Ann Hayden. My ggg grandfather was christened on the 10th of November 1808, he had a sister called Sarah Monaghan, born December 8th 1810 Clones, Monaghan, Ireland. James father was also called James Monaghan he married Cate Mcneilly, they would have been born around 1766, and possibly married in 1787, but on that I am not sure. I do know that they came from Clones, Monaghan, Ireland as well. Please can any one help me with any info on this family I would be very happy to have this info as I live in England, and cannot get any more info to what I have. Jean

Dear Marlene Hi Laurel Thank you for contacting me so quickly after seeing my message on the mailing list. First of all, you need access to a fiche reader and if so, I can then send you a set of fiche for transcribing. If you access the website http://freecen.rootsweb.com/index.html you will see that the programme INCENS can be downloaded to your computer. There is a tutorial mode on there which is advisable to 'have a go at' until you feel confident about actually transcribing onto the 'Live Mode' programme. I will not go on too much until you confirm whether you have the tools necessary ie. fiche reader access. I look forward to hearing from you and hopefully welcoming you 'on board' our merry band of volunteers. Also, could you let me have your snail mail address if you are joining us. Dear Carol First of all let me thank you for tye speedy response. As a matter of fact I mentioned to my Aunt that I waould love to contribute in some way with the project you just told me about. I am fairly new at researching but I am good with my computer, what I don't know I can learn. (SMILE) So if you want a long distance assistant I would be honored to help in any way I can. I agree about the value of family, I am of Irish descent but consider myself a Irish Americian with pride. I am researching 4 family from Ireland, last week I found my great great Granfathers baptism record at St. Johns, along with 2 other brothers. My Aunt has been looking for 30 years which included 4 trips to Ireland to do reaserch with no luck. I am so excited & am having a hard time being patient while I find out how to access the records & find not just a Brennan, but our Brennan's. If you can help guide me to get the records it would be very much appreciated. Please consider my offer for assistance, & let me know OK. Dear All, I hope you will take a little time in reading the following albeit that the subject is a little off topic. I don't know if any of you are aware of a Project which is ongoing to put the English Census, particulary 1891, onto the internet for free access to anyone/fellow genealogists. I hope you don't stop reading because of the word English but as you are aware there is a large population of Scottish and Irish people living in England so it will help 'us' in some way to research possible ancestors living in England during this period. Well, I am the Co-ordinator for West Riding of Yorkshire, and am trying to recruit people to help transcribe the 1891 Census for this project. The tools required are access to a fiche reader and a little spare time, as much or as little as you can manage. You can check out the website at http://freecen.rootsweb.com/index.html to see what is happening if you wish. As I said before, I realise this is a request for the Yorkshire Census but I am appealing to genealogists who would like to become involved in this worthile project. I am a great believer in putting as much information as possible on the internet to enable 'us' to help trace our ancestors from our own homes and free of charge. Please, if you feel you are interested in any way, could you contact me off list. Thank you for taking time to read this message and good luck with all your research. Hello, Have been told by a kind lady in Australia that there is a "A notable Armstrong headstone in a small graveyard at the C of I in Ballinmallard County Fermanagh, close to the Fermanagh border. The town is small and the church just opposite the post office." Does anyone out there live near this town or can tell me the name of the church so I could write? Am interested to know the names of the Armstrongs on the headstone. Happy Thanksgiving. Marilyn
