    2. YLeBlanc
    3. While patiently waiting to gain access to "the" website I thought I would submit this query about my 2xgrtgrandmother. Margaret Ann (née?) ROLLINS (widow of William ROLLINS) died November 20 1916 at her residence, Kilcorig, and was buried in the Magheragal Churchyard. What is the name of the church associated with the churchyard? Does the churchyard still exist? Now I am really going to push my luck <grin> Is there a tombstone for her and William and what does it say? Thank you in advance, Heather patiently waiting her turn in Montreal

    2. Richard Callanan
    3. The following message has been posted on the UK Public Records Office website. Familiar isn't it? "The Public Record Office and our partners, QinetiQ, are pleased to announce that the 1901 Census Online service officially went live on 2 January. "We are very aware of the great disappointment that a lot of people have experienced in not being able to access the 1901 Census site or who have gained access to the site and then experienced difficulties in using it. We very much regret that this has occurred. There have been very high levels of demand peaking at 1.2 million hits at one time. QinetiQ, who are responsible for the site, are working with their contractors to resolve this as soon as possible. We will publish regular updates. "Please remember that if you would prefer, there are microfiche copies available at Kew and at local record offices throughout England and Wales. "If you need further information please contact the Census Helpdesk on +44 (0) 1684 585299 "The 1901 census will be available at www.census.pro.gov.uk " Richard Callanan London, England.

    3. Following the UK law of 100 years embargo on Census details the 1901 census for England and Wales has been published today on line. (The Irish census of 1901 has been available for many years) Of course I haven't been able to get on it because it is clogged ! but those of you in North America might try later when Europe is asleep! It is a pay site charging Sterling Pounds 0.75 per query (US dollars about 1.10). (I think there are other ways of subscribing) It lists 35 million individuals and so is too big to be published on CD. Other trivia: the digitisation from the original records was done by guests of Her Majesty (i.e. prisoners!) Seemingly they planned on having 14 hits a second and the initial hit-rate today was ten times that! The site, when you can get through, is http://www.census.pro.gov.uk And a Very Happy New Year to everyone Richard Callanan London, England. -----Original Message----- From: Ruth Enns [mailto:ruth.enns@shaw.ca] Sent: 02 January 2002 17:25 To: IRELAND-CEMETERIES-L@rootsweb.com Subject: Re: [IRE-CEMETERIES] While you're waiting!!!!
