On my recent trip to Ballymena I discovered that the Ballymena Museum has copies of cemetery transcriptions done in the 1990's for most of the cemeteries around Ballymena. They have a list of what cemeteries they have available. They also have a list of books including some cemetery transcriptions that are available for sale. However, some are out of print and also they do not take credit cards so it is difficult to buy them from the US. Also, the Borough Council Office has the burial records for any of the cemeteries that are no longer under control of the churches. Two I know they have are Clough - beginning in about 1885 and Kirkinriola. I doubt that they will look things up without a date. I am not even sure they will look anything up without a person being there. They were very nice to us, but they are busy and you are not allowed to search the records yourself. My sister and I are trying to find an organization that would be willing to send in volunteers to transcribe the records and get them onto a computer. Assuming we could get the Borough Council to agree to that. Should anyone be looking for either Mortons or Stevensons in the Ballymena area, please contact me as I have considerable information. Anne
Anne, Did you by any chance get an address for the Ballymena Museum??? I am looking for Rogers graves, most likely at Glenwhirry Church Cemetery. I tried to contact the local (Ballymena) church with no response. I wrote a letter which was published in the Ballymena Times, hoping someone could go look for my graves. Again, no response! Your message brought a ray of hope! Hello John Kiely You could try Nohoval Sacristan for the local St, Patricks Church,Helen Quinn, Tel: Cork 021-4887165 or e-mail Cork County Council -corkcoco.ie Best of Luck Carmel
Could SKS direct me to the proper authority in County Cork, that could tell me which of my ancestors are buried in a grave. The plot is located in St. Patrick's Church graveyard in Nohoval, Cork. The stone reads, "the Kiely family from Fountainstown". Both Catholics and Protestants are buried there. Any help is appreciated. John Kiely Boston, Ma
A big thank you goes out to a researcher that has given me the information that I have been searching for since 1977. I found a lot of the names searched for and also found that all graves are unmarked. He took the time to call the cemetery and they gave him the information. Only GOD and I know how much his work is appreciated. Thanks to all that assisted along the way. Shirley sdholland@mindspring.com

Dear Listers After looking at all mail and suggestions and taking into account what Rootsweb Help desk had suggested, I have now with careful thought, adopted this wording for the Topic of Ireland Cemeteries BUT before you all dash off and unsub, this is not my intention that this should happen, but a desire to utilise both lists for the good of the listers so ...........I guess as I have been told *you are now the list administrator and you can let some lee way into the list* Happy to oblige so this is the new Topic for this list but I welcome all input to help all on this list should headstones appear some where else and not here I will make notification to this list as well, that headstones have appeared elsewhere for said place. Now while I have your attention I want to thank those listers who do take the time to look up their sources for those seeking ancestors, I must admit most of my headstones are from Co Wicklow~ Wexford with a smattering of other places. Hello, Looking for the cemetery where my grandparents, James and Bridget (Woods) MURPHY, are buried. I believe their son, Francis, (d. ca 1950) is also buried with them or in the same graveyard. I believe they came from Moboy, Pomeroy, County Tyrone and that they died a few months apart about 1916. They were Roman Catholic and possibly are buried in St. Joseph's graveyard in Killeenan. I would appreciate any and all information concerning the dates of their deaths. Thank you in advance for any information. Marguerite
Hello out there, I am hoping that someone out there can help me find the burial/death information/obit of my great grandfather DANIEL QUIRK. He is buried somewhere in County Down, was catholic, and originally from Carlow. I believe he died sometime in 1896 or 97. DANIEL QUIRK returned to Ireland sometime in 1896 or 97 for a visit with family members. Upon landing he became ill and died about three weeks later. He was buried in County Down. He was accompanied by his son James Patrick and his wife Julia. I know that is not much information but it is all that I have. A little background information on DANIEL QUIRK is that he immigrated to the U.S. about 1850 out of County Cork. He married Mary Battle and they had 10 children. Catherine, Michael, James, Mary, Margaret Edward, Ellen, Katherine Celia and one that I have not found as yet. If they followed the Irish naming patterns, DANIEL'S father might have been MICHAEL QUIRK. I appreciate any help you can provide. I do not know where else I can turn to for help. Regards Charlotte Schulz
I have photographs and transcriptions of all the tombstones in the Malin Presbyterian Church Cemetery and most of Carndonagh Presbyterian Church Cemetery. I also have a few from Claudy C of I, Redcastle C of I, and Moville Presb. I don't have a website but am willing to share if you contact me. Cara: I have had many experiences literally stumbling into old cemeteries in Ireland. There was one in Co. Kilkenny in Poulrone (Polerone), Mooncoin, which I saw in 1986, whose stones, fallen over as they were, were carved most interestingly. I believe they dated to at least 1300. There was some talk in 1986 of the village intending to restore the graveyard. Could you tell me whether it has been done? I would like to see it on my next visit to Ireland. Anita Carroll
Please read right through as I need you input. Dear Listers This is the topic for this list,IRELAND-CEMETERIES-L Topic: A mailing list for anyone searching for their ancestors in cemeteries in Ireland or interested in preserving historical information about these cemeteries (including locating graves, Descendants within the graves, cemeteries which have been indexed on the internet and in other written forms, and care of tombstones and the inscriptions thereon) and sharing information about them. But I am now concerned that in fact some of you join this list with the intentions of finding details off tombstones, I have conferred with rootsweb and they have given me some suggestion to make both the Irish Tombstone and this list a viable concern. You see when I index or type up tombstones I just post them to that list, which of course is where one would expect them to go, but in my searching I often write up the history on the churches and graveyards, state of a tombstone etc....... now this does not belong on the tombstone list or does it ? no it belongs on here but should when we post to this particular list just make a note that tombstones have been posted to that list I need input into how we are going to redefine our topics for Ireland Cemeteries and still hold with what everyone needs, plus if any of you are on the Tombstone listing you will a similar request on that list. I guess my main concern will be that I do in fact wish to maintain the lists so that whatever is required by listers can be posted to the list ...but allowing you to either join both or utilise what we have to a better degree and to do this we may have to redefine the rules of topics.... I hope this muddled request is given careful thought and that you all give me some input, on or off the list I do not mind, but I surely need advice Thanks a million Yours CARA List Admin for Ireland Cemeteries Ireland Tombstones Ireland Obits Co Wicklow
