Good day to all!! Recently we found that one of our ancestors, Edmund O'Malley was born in Mount Shannon/Whitegate RC parish county Galway, currently Clare County. His parents were Thomas O'Malley and Mary Noonan and the recorded date of his birth is Jan. 14, 1847. Edmund did not come to Indiana with the rest of his family so we assume he died in infancy or in the crossing. My questions are: (1) are there any cemeteries in this parish that have been transcribed, if so, where might I find the records? (2) are there any local libraries within this area that I might contact for information,e-mail, web or postal address? (3) are there any historical societies that lie within this area that I might contact, if so, how do I contact them? (4) the family was catholic, any churches I might contact to find if they have a record of his death? Thank you very much for ANY assistance you might be able to offer!!! Debbie from Indiana
Thanks Cara for giving everyone this opportunity. SURNAME: MORTON - farthest back I have for sure is Peter Morton b. abt. 1759, died 26 July 1825, buried in Clough Cemetery, County Antrim. I am trying to find his wife Jane's surname and the name of his parents. SURNAME: STEVENSON - farthest back I have for sure is Adam Stevenson, of Kildowney, Co. Antrim, born probably in Kildowney in the 1770's or 1780's. I am looking for his wife Jane's surname. His possible parents are William who died about 1819 and Jean Stevenson who died in 1797 and is buried in Clough Cemetery, County Antrim. Adam's siblings that I know of are Nathaniel, Isabella and Jennie. Nathaniel and Isabella (Kerr) are buried in Killymurris Cemetery, Glarryford, Co. Antrim. I have information on many Stevensons and Mortons in the Ballymena area but can't put them all together. Anne Klintworth

It seems Margaret was the illegitimate sister of the Viscount Clifden and that Patrick's untimely death ended the situation of "gentry", the children having to find employment as Revenue Officers, in the Military etc. This also caused a financial burden for Margaret and she was forced to call for help from her brothers. It seems that they did assist her, financially. The GL of Ireland has records of Patrick at Lodge 524, Powerstown, Co Carlow. It appears Powerstown is not very far from Gowran and it is reasonable to presume that he would have gone there for meetings. There are records of an ARTHUR GORE CUTHBERT who was also a Freemason, at or about the same time. This person cannot yet be fitted into the jigsaw. It is regretted that the English Military seem reticent in supplying data and, even more so, the Grand Orange Lodge who will not lift a finger to identify one who could be construed a Martyr to their Cause. An alternative birthdate is 1755. Lt Patrick Cuthbert. Gentleman. My GGG Gpa. Of Co Kilkenny. Does that help? I have a little more. Hi Cara This is what I know about the McGuire family I'm looking for in County Leitrim McGuire, John - buried Cty Leitrim wife unknown Sons: McGuire, John born Dec 23, 1821 in Cty Leitrim McGuire, (brother) McGuire, (brother) There may be more family, but we know that two of the boys went on one ship and John went on another and they were supposed to meet up in the "new world". This never happened, so it is assumed that they were lost at sea. John had to have immigrated in 1840 or 1841 -- and settled in Rawdon, Province of Quebec, Canada. In 1841 or 1842 he married Hester Bowen (?) in Rawdon (Hester was born in Kings County, Ireland in 1824) They immigrated to Minnesota, USA and were buried in Sauk Center, MN - John in 1889 and Hester in 1890. The father, John and his family, are our brick wall in family genealogy. Any help you can offer will be HUGELY appreciated. Patsy McGuire Holland
SURNAME: KEYES Given names: MICHAEL P., ALICE, MARY, CATHERINE, MARGARET, HANORAH (Nora), ELLEN, and MICHAEL FRANCIS (All except Michael F. born in Ireland.) COUNTY: Maybe Limerick. Immigrated to Canada TIME FRAME: 1820 - 1865 Thanks again, Cara! Lynne
