Hello, I was just reading some of the archives and found, "a small plot inside the vallum of a rath." Would someone, please, explain what this means? I know that it has something to do with a burial ground. Thank you. Jeanne (Maine USA)

Is anyone aware of any transcriptions for the Catholic Parish of Drangan in Co. Tipperary? It is my belief that some of my Mullally ancestors are buried there. Warm Regards, Thomas Mullally [email protected]

Susan Carl [email protected] >> Hi Susan, Just where is Kilbride Cemetery? I do have an entry in my data base for a Bridget Mullooly of Strokestown, Roscommon b. May 01, 1865. The surname is so unusual that it might just represent the personality who married John Lally although the birth date is not quite right. Thanks. Tom Mullally

Dear list members; I just found out from a cousin, that our HATTON ancestor's are buried in a cemetery on the hill in Hannastown. Across the street from the chapel. The grave mark is relatively new and was erected by the ROONEY family. Apparently Mrs. ROONEY 's mother was a HATTON/HUTTON ( it has been spelled both ways). Can anyone tell me where I might find out who is all buried in this grave? Would anyone in Hannastown know of any information, do you think? I don't know if there are any records anywhere. Do know that the HATTON farm was torn down and is being rebuilt, as we speak. Sure would like to know who bought it. Really could use some help with this one gang. Kind regards, Sharon /USA [email protected] __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? Get email alerts & NEW webcam video instant messaging with Yahoo! Hi- I want to share this information as it may be useful to someone. In 1998 I visited Ireland and found the gravesites of my ancestors in Roscommon, Ireland. The RODDY family was buried in Kilglass Cemetery: "Sacred to the memory of Patrick Roddy of Carrigan, who died on the 7th of April 1882, his wife Bridget and their son Luke and his wife Kate, also their son Patrick died 16 October 1959...RIP...Erected by his children Michael, Bernard, Patrick, Thomas, Luke, John & Bridget & Tim." The LALLY family was buried in Kilbride Cemetery: "Erected by John Lally in loving memory of his wife Bridget Lally nee Mullooly who died 2 October 1900 aged 33 years...Also his father Patrick Lally, or Curry, who died 16th July 1895 aged 72 years...and his mother Ellen Lally who died 16th May 1902 aged 80 years...and his brother, Thomas, who died 3rd September 1881, aged 24 years... and his sister Maria who died 1 February 1890 aged 51 years...and his brother, Patrick, who died 11 Aug 1896 aged 35 years." Gwen, Could you please check to see what the church names were & graveyards for Mullinglass, Co Armagh, N. Ireland Also, any parish names & graveyards in Drumilly. These are both Roman Catholic in Killevy Parish, Armagh Co. N. Ireland. Thanks so much for your input Kerry McHugh Looking for Felix Burns, Co Armagh << Sharon. According to Mitchell's Guide to Irish Churches and Graveyards there was no graveyard attached to the church in Keenaghan, the church was RC. The village of Loughgall had a graveyard but no church. The town of Charlemont had a Methodist church but no graveyard attached to it. In the civil parish of Loughgall there were ll churches and 5 graveyards as of mid -nineteenth c. The religious parishes and Civil parishes did not always co-incide so it would be wise to locate in the Griffith Valuation the nearest church of the right denomination and then look for the graveyard it would have used. Ryan's Irish Records and Sources for Family History identifies Cof I and Presbyterian churches for Loughgall and there is a present day RC church in Loughgall. If you contact me off list with your ancestors religion I can give you the dates for which the repective churches have records and the references for those graveyards in Loughgall CP listed by Mitchell. I got a chuckle out of the subject line of your post, it brought back an old childhood joke in which the answer to your subject line question is "Nowhere, they don't bury them 'til they die! " Sorry, but I couldn't resist:-) Gwen >>
