I was wondering how many cemeteries there are in the thurles area of tipperary Thanks Lillian Clark
Does anyone know where you might obtain transcriptions of cemeteries in County Monaghan, specifically Carrickmacross. I am looking for Boylan relatives Lynn Nelson [email protected]
Kevin, Cashel has a number of cemetries: One of the oldest is the burial ground at the rock of Cashel, many of the stones date from the 1700's and include all denominations. The Catholic cemetry is out the Fethard road and the Church of Ireland cemetry is by the church on Friar Street. You also have what is known as the 'shank yard' - a burial ground in use from the Famine times, however there are no stones. Around the general Cashel area there are loads..... have you any specifics ? I'm from this area and am familiar with some cemetries. I am trying to locate the grave of my great grandfather. If anyone lives nearby I would greatly appreciate it if you could drop by and read the inscription on his gravestone (if there is one!). I do not know the exact cemetery but it is a Catholic cemetery located in Bancran, Sixmilecross, Omagh, Co. Tyrone, Northern Ireland. His name was Paul Donnelly, and his wife's name may have been Ellen but I'm not sure. Their daughter, Mary, was my grandmother and she came to America shortly after father Paul died in 1887. Thank you John Windhausen [email protected]
I have the Name and exact Date of Death of a family member buried in Madden Cemetery in the Civil parish of Derrynoose in Co.Armagh although I do not know precisely what our relationship is! The death certificate is not much help as she died in Hospital and was unmarried. Would administration of this cemetery be with the present day RC parish of Keady(formerly) Derrynoose, or is there a civil organization that would be responsible? Is it likely there would be records of this burial in 1948? Any information or suggestions will be much appreciated. Thank you. Gwen M.McCullagh

Bob, Couldn't help but respond to your post. I don't have any answers for you, but questions. I'm also researching ancestors from Ireland who settled in central New York. This is probably a long shot, but I won't know if I don't ask. My great-grandfather was Michael McGraw - not sure what part of Ireland he came from. I have a copy of his obituary from a Syracuse newspaper in 1915 showing that he had one sister, a Mrs. John Ryan. Were any of the siblings who came to the US named John? Does any of this sound familiar?
