Lots of excellent pages including an all-Ireland townland search and Matheson distribution of surnames in Ireland (1890 births), censuses, etc. NOTE -- If you think your relative may have belonged to the ROYAL IRISH CONSTABULARY in 1901, try the following --Type RIC in the "surname" field on the 1901 census at the website instead of a surname. You will get back 766 hits with the names and ages (in some cases, only initials) of men in RIC barracks in Cos. Sligo, Mayo, Wexford, Leitrim, Roscommon, Galway and Westmeath in 1901. Place of birth is given (Irish county, England, etc.), age, marital status, rank, etc. This search would pick up all RIC listed at this time, whether full names or initials. Jean.
