Most large families were Catholic. Jean I was pretty sure of that until about an hour ago when i got a magnifying glass and read the school report from the diocese of Bansha, it is a catholic school. My mother always said they were protestant but I had my doubts. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Jean R." <[email protected]> To: <[email protected]> Sent: Wednesday, October 17, 2007 5:09 PM Subject: Re: [IRELAND] "Kilshane" & "Bansha" placenames - SINCLAIR/ BDMsearches > BANSHA T. xx Tipperary, S.R. Dianne -- Thank goodness for magnifying glasses! It is said that people get interested in genealogy just as their eyesight starts failing. I've heard of Catholics converting to Protestantism in the mists of time, often from fear, coercion or to save their property from being confiscated, but not the other way around.
