    1. [IRELAND] Eyptian Princess Scota
    2. Hello, I would like to know if anyone knows if there might be a picture of the grave of Scota. My oldest son descends from her. Here is some information: Scota is buried on the sloped mountains in view of Tralee Bay at a place called Glenscoheen (Scota's Glenn). Irish archaeologists have not yet carried out any investigation on the site, which consists of woodland and natural rocks. The Ordnance Survey of Ireland has shown the actual location of the burial of Scota. jamie ________________________________________________________________________ More new features than ever. 1. [IRELAND] "Load" - John HEWITT (1907-1987) - Belfast>>England
    2. Jean R.
    3. LOAD Today we carted home the last brown sheaf and hookt the scythe agenst the dry barn wall: the yellow border's on the chestnut leaf, the beech leaf's yellow all. Tomorrow we must bring the apples in, they are as big as they shall ever be: already starlings eager to begin have tasted many a tree. And in the gardens, all the roses done, the light lies gently, faint and almost cold, on wither'd goldenrod and snapdragon and tarnisht marigold. -- John Hewitt (1907-1987)

    1. [IRELAND] "Street Names" - John HEWITT (1907-1987) - Belfast>England
    2. Jean R.
    3. STREET NAMES I hear the street names on the radio and map reported bomb or barricade: this was my childhood's precinct, and I know how such streets look, down to the very shade of brick, of paintwork on each door and sill, what school or church nearby one might attend, if there's a chance to glimpse familiar hill between the chimneys where the grey slates end. Yet I speak only of appearances, a stage unpeopled, not the tragic play: though actual faces of known families flash back across the gap of fifty years; can these be theirs, the children that today rage in the fetters of their fathers' fears? -- John Hewitt, "Collected Poems" (1991)

    1. [IRELAND] John C. MURRAY b. NYC 1904 - Catholic Priest Argues For Separation of Church & State
    2. Jean R.
    3. SNIPPET: John Courtney MURRAY (1904-67) was a Catholic priest whose writings on religious freedom and the relationship between church and state exerted a profound influence on the faithful in and out of the Catholic Church. Born in NYC to a Scottish father and an Irish mother (Margaret COURTNEY), he entered the Catholic priesthood and was ordained in 1937. That same year he accepted a position of professor of theology at the Catholic seminary in Woodstock, MD. He wrote widely on the subject of church-state relations, eventually drawing the ire (and censure) of Rome for his argument that the American-style separation of church and state was both compatible with Catholic teaching and a model for other societies. His book "We Hold These Truths: Catholic Reflections on the American Proposition" brought him national attention (and his photo on the cover of "Time" magazine) and helped to dispel concerns over whether Catholics were fit for national office during the election of John F. KENNEDY. He later served as an advisor to the Second Vatican Council in Rome and helped write the Declaration on Religious Freedom. -- Excerpt, "1001 Things Everyone Should Know About Irish American History," Edward T. O'Donnell, Holden, MA (Broadway Books/NY 2002)

    3. I have some Boyce family members in my FT, however the only one I have going back to Ireland is George Boyce who married a lady named Eunice. Their children were all born in Canada - the oldest one (George Palmer Boyce) in 1859. If any of these names are common let me know.
