Hi list, I cannot find my Stewarts in the 1850 census so may have been on their way to the above counties in Iowa and were in the above counties throughout most of the 1850's before some moved to Johnson County, Iowa William H. Stewart born in Harrison Co. Ky. in 1804 At some time after 1849 he married a second wife named Mary born about 1820. May have married her in Ky. or Iowa. She was born in Kentucky. James W. Stewart son born 1829 John Thomas Stewart son born 1835 Martha Jane Stewart daughter born 1836 Robert M. Stewart son born 1840 Samuel H. Stewart born 1842 Charles A. Stewart born 1844. There were three younger girls who either died or were farmed out with relatives when the mother of the above children (except James W. whose mother died in 1829) died about 1849. All children born in Ky. although James W. might have been born in Ohio. I know Martha Jane married Benjamin Ingels in Van Buren Co. in 1855 having supposedly first married a Tuttle. I am curious if they are somewhere in the Iowa census of 1850 or any state census. The father William, his third wife Mary, and Sam and Charles had moved to Johnson Co., Mo. by 1860.
