Angel, Who or what is your interest in Dean? My family is from that area, in fact until 1963 my grandparents farmed in Dean. Their home is not there any longer, but there are still a few people living there. There are a few, very few mind you, buildings still standing, but they are mostly abandoned. The Chariton River is VERY near Dean, in fact I can recall driving down the road that runs by Dean when it was covered by flood waters. There is a marker along the road to remind people where the community of Dean existed. There is also a marker that does the same for Coal City, which is down the road and around the corner.
