    3. Thanks to everyone for their help... as for your questions, yes, I am positive that Abner Warren Harden was Hattie's father. I have his obituary here, which states that his daughter was Hattie Smith, and a marriage certificate for Sylvanus Smith & Hattie Harden. I'm now thinking that Hattie must have been born between 1850 (when her father was living in New York, unmarried) and 1858 (when Warren's obit states that he moved to Iowa). Being that she married in 1872, and allowing the age of 16 to 22 for her to have married, that would make her birth probably somewhere between 1850 to 1856. I just don't understand why there's no sign of her with the family in census records, when the obit clearly states her as the daughter of A. Warren Harden. Any ideas?? Thanks again, Lana Piche' Saskatchewan, Canada

    3. Hi Lana, What about the 1850 census I sent you with a 20 year old Warren Harden born in NY living in Illinois with 2 younger brothers with the Schench family? Do you think it is the wrong Warren Harden? Ten years later he is married to a 27 year old wife Aramintha with whom he is also living in 1870. Isn't it possible he was married during the 10 years between 1850 and 1860 and either his wife died or divorced him and then remarried with Hattie taking a different name?
