Stanton still has their coffee pot watertower along with another water tower that looks like a coffee cup or creamer. My daughter lives in Stanton. Also the town is known for its white houses. Almost all the homes are painted white. There are a few non conformists. Notice about Willim F. (Buffalo Bill ) Cody. I think you will find that William (Buffalo Bill) Cody was born outside of (west of town) LeClaire, Iowa on Territorial Road, and not in Davenport. There is a marker there but nothing else. He lived as a boy in a stone farm house near McCausland, Iowa which is north of Le Claire, Iowa ( and north of Princeton, Iowa). That farm house still exist today and is now a Scott County Historical site and museum. In this house there was a tunnel which led from the house to the barn, which was used in the winter and as an escape route in case of indian attach or other dangers. There is a museum in Le Claire which has a lot of Cody info and some artifacts as well. I live near there.
