MICHAEL, OTTUMWA. - Member of the Board of Control of state institutions, was born in Ansley, Nebraska, May 13, 1889, the son of H. W. and Elinor Michael. Moved to Wapello county with his parents when he was nine months of age, where he has since resided. Educated in the Wapello county public schools, the Ottumwa high school and the Ottumwa Commercial College. Married Alice Spry, 1910. Resided on a farm until twenty-three years of age and since that time engaged in teh cigar business in Ottumwa. Chairman, Wapello county republican central committee, 1922-1926. Selected as member Iowa republican state central committee from the sixth district in 1928. A republican.
