You can obtain Iowa, as well as other state, death certificates by going to www.vitalrec.com and clicking on the state you're looking for records from. Birth, death and marriage information from about 1920 to about 1940 in Iowa are available in Des Moines only. Although there are many records available, they weren't required until the 1900s, at least in Pottawattamie County.
