I'm especially interested in learning the parents and siblings of Joseph's father, John Martin. JOSEPH MARTIN was born circa 1812 at PA, the son of John and Susanna (Ourie/Urey) Martin. His mother, Susanna, died about 1818 in PA or Belmont Co., OH. The father, John, remarried in 1819 to Margaret Messencope. Joe married Louisa Elender Moland on 23 Oct 1834 at Guernsey Co., OH. She was born ca. 1818 in VA, parents unknown. On 8 Mar 1898 Joseph Martin died at Bladensburg, Wapello Co., IA. He was buried circa 11 Mar 1898 at Bladensburg Cemetery, Bladensburg, Wapello Co., IA. The Joseph Martin family was recorded in the census in 1840 at Enoch Twp., Monroe Co., OH. He and Louisa Elender Moland lived on 9 May 1848 at Monroe Co., OH. On 9 May 1849, while living in Monroe Co., they sold their rights in the Licking Co., OH estate of Joseph's father, John, to Joe's half-brothers, Benjamin and Jonathon, sons of John and Magaret (Messencope) Martin. Joseph Martin was recorded in the census on 10 Sep 1850 at Union Twp., Monroe Co., OH. Joseph is listed in final settlement of his father John Martin's estate, 3 July 1858 and other proceedings beginning July, 1853. These are recorded in the Partition records, Vol. D, pages 354-361; Vol F; and other volumes of the Licking Co. OH Clerk of Court, Courthouse, Newark, OH. Joseph Martin was recorded in the census on 1 Aug 1860 at Fallsbury Twp., Licking Co, OH. Census records for Joseph, his children and grandchildren show residence in WI from about 1864-1870. He was recorded in the census on 7 Jul 1870 at Sylvan, Richland Co., WI. Joseph Martin, listed as Joseph Martain, was recorded in the census on 11 Jun 1880 at Pleasant Twp., Wapello Co., IA. Children of Joseph Martin and Louisa Elender Moland were : i. JAMES, born circa 1836 at Monroe Co., OH; married, possibly 1859-1861; spouse name unknown. He and his wife traveled with Joseph and Louisa Martin to WI. James died after 1864. ii. MARY ANN was born circa 1839 at Monroe Co., OH. She married James McVey on 12 Nov 1857 at Noble Co., OH. They continued to live in Stubenville, Noble Co. through 1900. iii. JACOB, born circa 1842 at Monroe Co., OH; married Louisa Surname Unknown. They were enumerated in the census on 11 Jun 1880 and 17 June 1900 at Pleasant Twp., Wapello Co., IA. iv. ELIZA L was born circa 1844 at Monroe Co., OH. v. RACHEL was born circa 1849 at Monroe Co., OH. She died after 1 Aug 1860. vi. JOSEPH, born 1855 at OH; married Rosetta Howard on 28 Apr 1881, Morgan Co., OH. For the 25 Apr 1910 census they were in Union Twp., Morgan Co. vii. CELESTIAL was born circa 1863 at WI. She appeared on the census of 7 Jul 1870 in the household of her parents at Sylvan, Richland Co., WI. Celsetia also appeared on the census of 11 Jun 1880 in the household of her parents at Pleasant Twp., Wapello Co., IA. No further records for her have been found.
