Earlier this year I submitted a request to IA Dept of Public Health for a search of a death record for my great uncle who supposedly died in the state bet. 1927-1934. They would not do a search as the event was less than 75 years old and I was a "great-nephew of the deceased." Is there any alternative to work around this? I am anxious to find this record as he is the only one of his siblings I do not have death records for. I don't know where exactly in IA he died. All I have is info from his brother's 1927 obit. that said he was survived by a brother in IA. Any help appreciated. Thanks.

Just a suggestion....and I realize that you don't know if this gentleman was alive in 1930....but might be worth a try. Try locating him in the 1930 Federal census in Iowa. He might just still be alive at that time....and that will narrow down your search in Iowa. Dennis do you have a subscription to ancestry.com (you can sign in as a guest but I am not sure what you would have access to). They have Tombstone Record to Iowa Cemeteries.
