    3. Good Morning All, I have recently discovered a new resource for family information and for the County Coordinators out there who want to add more information to their websites. It is the Grand Army of the Republic (G.A.R.) records. They are available from your local Family History Library and are probably available on interlibrary loan from the various genealogical and historical libraries in Iowa. In most cases the records that I am referring to come in "card form" and have been photographed and put on microfilm. They contain information such as: the persons name, occupation, date of birth, wife's name, and usually her maiden name, his children's names and in many cases where they lived at the time and if it is a female, her married name, the parents names including the mother's maiden name, in many cases a short bio, also included in some of them is a list of siblings who also served in the war, the company they served with, the date of enlistment and discharge, if any injuries occurred, etc., etc., etc. If any of you would like for me to check for the film number that you can order from your Family History Library, send me the county you are interested in for Iowa and I will check for you and let you know. The addresses below will give you an indication of what they look like and what they contain: http://www.rootsweb.com/~iamadiso/military/american_civil_war/gar_images/alexander_thomas.jpg http://www.rootsweb.com/~iamadiso/military/american_civil_war/gar_images/anderson_john_b.jpg http://www.rootsweb.com/~iamadiso/military/american_civil_war/gar_images/thompson_robert_lyle.jpg Let me know if I can help any of you find the microfilms mentioned above. Happy Hunting, Judy jlwight@northlink.com
