This is a reminder to everyone that the list rules require members to be courteous in their public AND PRIVATE posts to other list members. -Richard <http://members.cox.net/writeway/>"Read this book and you will never write another poor sentence." ---------- Richard Harrison Jones County IAGenWeb Coordinator, http://www.rootsweb.com/~iajones/ IOWA-L Listowner, http://homepages.rootsweb.com/~richard/ialist/ [email protected]
Someone out there who is on this GENEALOGICAL list owes Eileen a public apology for being one who has accurately used terminology from the past. The response only reveals his/her ignorance (that means lack of knowledge and is not the same as stupidity) of that past usage. The past is what this mailing list is about and may get into a lot terminology that we would find offensive today just as some of ours would be offensive to those who lived in the past. That is how language changes. The response was rude and out of line and reveals a desire to lay today's standards on the past. Regardless how we may feel today, we can't change the past. Thank you Eileen for being a good genealogist and being accurate.
