    3. Hello all. I've been following your discussions and appreciate what I'm learning from you. I'd like to get your input on how effective it would be for my brother to take a DNA test for Newman lineage when the descendant line has at least two women (my ggg grandmother and great grandmother) carrying the gene? In other words their is no direct male Newman line to my brother and me. Does it make any sense to go to the expense of a DNA test because of this break? I've heard that it is more difficult, but not impossible, to find the direct DNA lineage with women's genes. (and maybe more so with two or more women in the direct line.) Is this true? If it is, this may be why so many of us don't through with DNA testing. If this is cleared up, perhaps more of us out here would be signing up for testing. By the way, I am researching the Newman line. In particular Ezekiel Newman (son of Daniel & Dorothy) b. 1750 Bedford, NY., d. 1836 in Smithboro, Tioga Co., NY, wife: Temperance (Stuart/Stewart) d. 1840 in Smithboro, Tioga Co., NY. Their daughter, "Alche" (aka Malissie/ Elsie) Newman (my ggg grandmother) m. Ira Canfield, and their son Orsemus Canfield, b. 1814, Millsport, Chemung Co., NY, d. 1907 in Chariton, Lucas Co., Iowa is my great grandfather. Orsemus & Hannah Canfield's daughter, Alice/Allis (my Great grandmother) who also died in Iowa. I haven't seen any mention of this line and hope someone has interest. Looking forward to hearing what you have to say.
