    3. I'm sure we all entreat our Higher Power to grant you all a safe haven Sherry, but maybe you should consider a relocation. The last hurricane to hit Iowa was when my ex-m-i-l passed thru enroute to the Black Hills!. George O. & spouse are in Tama co. on the 1900/10/20/30. Wife is enumerated as Louisa S, Sophia L., Sophia, & Sophia L. There appear to be no issues for this couple. Dick May you live to be a hundred, with an extra year to repent! 1. PLEASE PUT NAME + LOCATION ON SUBJECT LINE FOR LOOKUP REQUESTS
    2. zee
    3. IT HELPS IN MANY WAYS. for example: 1. The volunteers know immediately if it is an area of their research. 2. If volunteers send a reply, they can find the original request much faster. Look ups take time. Everyone can help them selves by helping the volunteers save time by stating the request on the SUBJECT LINE. Thank you,

He was born February 7, 1865 and died January 24, 1951. She died November 22, 1937. I am hoping to find out if they had any children, and if he ever remarried. I have him buried in Woodlawn Cemetery, in Tama, but no burial for her. Pray for us in the southeast. Thanks, Sherry _______________________________ Do you Yahoo!? 2. Tina S. Vickery
    3. Opened in 1851, The New York Juvenile Asylum merged with the Children's Village in Dobbs Ferry, N.Y. I recently acquired "A Day With Dr. Brooks" authored by Mary E. Dodge. It appeared in the December, 1870 issue of Scribner's Magazine, pgs. 36 - 58 It is a compelling story, that I couldn't wait to share <g> ... so I am putting it up in segments. The first installment is at http://iagenweb.org/iaorphans/resources/brooks.shtml It is extraordinary in that it is really *not* Orphan Train rider specific, but gives a view of history, tenor, and culture of the times, and gives our visitors a view of the life of many of the children that made their way west .. I hope you find it helpful and interesting. Tina Vickery http://iagenweb.org/iaorphans/

    1. State census of Iowa between 1850 and 1860
    2. Virginia L. Aldridge
    3. Hello Fellow List Members, I am trying to determine if Scott Co., IA was included in a state census between 1850 and 1860. Peticularly an 1856, which I know was done in Lee Co., IA. I am searching for the family of Fridolin(Frederick) and Margaret Hoesli they would have had at least one child. In 1860 they are listed with a 6, 3,and 1 year old, so in 1856 they would have had at least a 2 year old male named Frederick (Fridolin). All the children are listed born in Iowa on the 1860 census. The family emigrated from Switzerland and by 1870 they are in Tell City, Perry Co., IN. In Oct. 1861 Margaret died, and Fridolin married Verena Schiesser July 1863. Regards, Virginia Evansville IN
