Just a P.S. for clarification Ellen. In 1880 Anderson's household is in Lincoln twp, Sioux co. In 1870 in Highland twp, Ia. co Wi. and as already indicated, in 1860 Highland twp, Iowa co Wi. indexed as Andrew Wood. Dick May you live to be a hundred, with an extra year to repent! HNY Ellen!, To my knowledge the 1885 census is not on-line. In addition to Sharyl's link Ancestry has an all name index for both the 1885 & 1895 Ia. state census. But Sioux co. is not included for 1885. Do you have John C. Wood on later census records? I ask because the 1900 enumeration raises some questions. The 1900 auld sod native Mary Wood appears to be the widow of Anderson Wood, born In. On the 1895 Anderson Wood and Mary Wood are the only surname Wood in Lincoln twp., Sioux co. I followed Anderson & Mary back to 1860 Iowa co, Wisc. All their children appear to have been born in Wi. So If young John's parental nativities are correct, and he was the son of one of the daughters, his surname is not Wood. If you want to check this out, in 1860 Hightland twp, Ia co. Wi., Anderson Wood is indexed as Andrew. Dick May you live to be a hundred, with an extra year to repent! You should be aware that the Lester Thorsen in Pocahontas County appears as Lester Bertram Thorsen, born 11 April 1900, in both the World War I Registration (where Thomas O. is identified as his father) and in SSDI (d 2 May 1997 in Ft. Dodge, Webster Co, IA). He is still living, as a single man, with his parents in the 1930 census. Then there is a Lester J. Thorsen in the 1930 Chicago, Cook County, IA census married to Florence H., age 39, born IL, father born WI, mother b PA. Living with them is his stepson Douglas Block, age 20, born IL, father born KS, mother born IL. Lester J. married Florence when he was 28 and she was 34. He appears to be the same Lester J. Thorsen who was born on 5 May 1899 and died on 15 April 1939 (in Seminole, Florida) in the SSDI. I didn't find a Florence in the SSDI, but did find an Irma D. [not A.] Thorsen, born 3 May 1912 and died 12 March 2003 in Seminole, Florida. It looks to me as if there are two men with the same first and last names, but with different middle names, born within a year of each other, one of whom is associated with Iowa (Lester Bertram Thorsen), the other (Lester J. Thorsen) with Illinois and Florida. Hi list, I am searching for information on Thomas Crosby Warner. He was born June 2, 1824 and died March 19, 1901 in Dickinson County. He was married to Nancy Clark. I think Thomas is a brother to my great Grandmother, Polly Warner Cady and Samuel S. Warner who are both buried in Lone Tree Cemetery in Buena Vista County. I have baptism records of Samuel and Polly stating they were baptized in Canaan, NY and they are the children of Betsey Crosby, and I have the marriage information on Samuel S. Warner and Betsey Crosby's marriage in on Feb, 27, 1812 in Canaan. Witnesses were Thos. B. Crosby and Elijah Warner. Thanks for any help! Janet

Yes, he died in LA. His obit doesn't mention anything about his place of birth and he was only in Iowa as a child as the family moved early on. That much I do know. All bio's on him simply reads born in Iowa but doesn't state where. I am curious because I have a distant aunt I believe was married to him at one point. She came from Iowa as well, the same age, moved to Los Angeles county in the 1930s and is buried as O'Donnell but in a different cemetery and of course, no husband next to her. Her name was Claretta but she died in the 1980s and it showed his wife named Dolores at the time of his death in 1992. You might write Woodland Hills to see if they have something on file for a hometown. Or you can write the Los Angles Times to see what they have in his Obit. Or you can go to your local library and ask if where they could find a LA times on Microfiche that you can order to make a copy off. Make to have his death date. I am guessing that he died in LA. This might cost a small fee to order the Microfiche, $5 or less depending on the library. His death certificate should give that information.
