Marsha To many of you, this is probably not new information, but I just came across it today while trying to fill in some family group sheets (and it's new to me.) I've been trying to find out something definite on the Peter Wright and wife, Rachel WOOD (dau. of Abraham) family. Although I have yet to find Peter & Rachel in 1850 anywhere (unless they were the ones in Monroe Co, IN which the ages don't fit), I believe I did locate many of the rest of the family in Newton Co, MO in 1850. Peter Wright md. Rachel Wood, March 12, 1812 in Harrison Co, IN. Their children are said to be: 1) Malinda <A Malinda Wright md. Roger Sutherland, Jr on Jan. 30, 1834, Washington Co, IN. 1850 Newton Co, MO census, hh #161, pg.330A: SUTHERLAND, Roger, 36, b: NY; Malinda, 29 IA ...this census taker used IA for IN apparently...their family is also listed. 2) Nancy 3) Dempsy, married Polly Wingler on Aug. 5, 1834, Washington Co, IN. 4) Tilman L., b: abt. 1819, married Mary Newby on Oct. 17, 1839, Washington Co, IN. <1850 Newton Co, MO census, pg. 366A: RIGHT, Tilman, 34, b: IA; Mary, 29, b: IA & family> 5) Betsy <A Betsy Wright married (may have been her 2nd) James S. Reed, 9/19/1841, Washington Co. 1850 Newton Co, MO census, living in the same hh with Roger & Malinda Sutherland: REED: Elizabeth, 25, b: IA and 3 Reed children. Also living in the same hh is: RIGHT, William, 5, b: Ark. 6) Rebecca, md: Adam Sears Jan. 30, 1840, Washington Co, IN 7) Violet 8) Washington <I found a Washington Wright who md. Martha Ann Griffith on 1/9/1840, Washington Co> Living next door to Roger & Malinda Sutherland was the Samuel Sutherland family. In that hh was living Malinda RIGHT, 18, b: IA. There are several familiar Washington Co surnames in this census (Gilstraps, Onstotts, etc.) If you've "lost" one of your ancestors, you may want to check this USGenWeb Newton Co, MO site. Marsha IL
