Nita, Washington County has put out a book called Pioneer Pickings, which is a compilation of articles written about Washington county old timers, & published in the Salem Democrat newspaper around 1875, the information could have possibly come from that; or it could have possibly come from a book called Centennial History of Washington County Indiana by Warder Stevens, published in 1916. The Washington County Historical Society has quite a large family file too, from what I understand. Those would be places & books that I would check first.
