I'm looking for information on the marriage of Randall/Randolph Persinger, son of Luke Persinger, to Laurinda/Lucinda Wheeler, b. abt. 1838. Randolph's daughter Martha Ann married Edward Gilbert. Edward and Martha Ann Gilbert are my great grandparents. Anita (Hobson) Aldrich Hobson, Gilbert, Persinger, Wheeler, Nicholson, Bennett, Mallicott, Prather
I'm interested in migration information from Rowan Co. NC to Southern IN. My Washington and Clark Co. Bennetts and Prathers were also from Rowan and Iredell Counties. Does anyone have info on resources about families migrating together and other migration patterns? Why were so many people leaving NC and VA and moving to IN? I'm really interested in learning more about the massive migrations. By the way, I live just outside of Charlotte NC, not far from Rowan and Iredell Counties. Although I work full time and trips to the courthouses during business hours will be infrequent, I can do research at the libraries. Also, the Charlotte library has a huge local history room, so if anyone wants me to check resources while I'm there doing my own research, just let me know. I'll do whatever I can to help....time permitting of course. Now if there's anyone living near Jackson and Washington Co. IN, I could sure use some local help from there...time permitting of course. I plan to make a trip back there in the spring. Herb, I took at look at your rootsweb page and noticed you have Marquis Field Bennett listed. I have information on his parents if you need it. He was a brother to my gggrandmother Delilah Bennett who married Townsend Nicholson. Regards to all... You had written and asked me once if I might know where Peter & Rachel (Wood) Wright went after their marriage. While searching the 1850 Indiana census, I found the following in Monroe Co, IN, Indian Creek twp, pg. 349: Peter Wright, 55, Farmer, b: NC, wife Rachel, 73, b: NC, Elizabeth, 55, b: NC ... this is what the census had. I believe that Rachel's age was probably 55 and Elizabeth's age was 73 (census writer's error.) IF this is the correct Peter & Rachel, then who was this Elizabeth? Peter's mother was Elizabeth (Lowe) Wright, but it is said that she was dec'd by then. Another interesting 'find' was on the Greene Co, IN census, listing a Philbert Wright, 50, b: NC with wife, Nancy, 44, b: NC and their family. Any idea if they were connected to the Rowan Co, NC Wrights? Hello Everyone, This is sent to the attention of the researchers who sent requests to me for will abstract look-ups during September & October 2001 from the book "Abstract of Wills of Washington County, Indiana 1808 - 1902". If you haven't received a reply from me with your information, please resend your request. I accidently deleted your request from my folder "mail waiting to be sent". I no longer have your email address or look-up request. The online index of the will abstracts is located at the following url: <http://165.138.44.13/washington/WILLS.HTM> I apologize for any inconvenience and wish everyone good fortune in their ancestor hunting. Warm Regards, Theresa R. Bonetti TRbonetti1@aol.com
Benjamin King built his log cabin church where Hancock Chapel now stands. He donated the church and the land for the Hancock Chapel Cemetery to the church board (including his son) in 1820. Benjamin King was my g.g.g. grandfather. His wife was Martha Haywood and her family is traced back to Richard Halstead, born in Essex, England 1133. The Kings are traced back to John King who married Agnes Mortimer in 1350 in Devonshire, England. The Mortimers go back to Roger de Mortimer (Earl of March). His wife was Lady Phillipa Plantagenet. She was the daughter of Lionel Plantagenet, the Duke of Clarence. They date to the late 13th century. A lot of work has been done on this family and it is indeed available at the Washington County Historical Society.
Washington Co. Abstract of Wills ... Will for John Manning, w.d.: Oct. 6, 1815, w.p.: Apr. 10, 1826, had witnesses: Elisha Wood, John Wood and Jeremiah Clark. Does anyone have any information on this John MANNING? Elisha & John WOOD were probably brothers (sons of Abraham WOOD.) Was Jeremiah CLARK also family connected? Thanks. Marsha IL
I've just learned that the Wash. Co. Historical Society has an old manuscript on the Benjamin KING (Methodist Min.) family. His church was actually in Harrison Co (Blue River twp probably), on the east side of Blue River about 1-1/2 mi. below Fredericksburg. There was also an old cemetery there. Does anyone have access to this manuscript? I am particularly interested in any information regarding his 2nd wife, Elizabeth WOOD (md. June 13, 1822) and those buried in the cemetery. Thanks. Marsha IL

Hi List, In two weeks, my dad and I will be going to the Allen County Library in Ft. Wayne, IN - the second largest place for genealogy records in the U.S. Just to let you know I will take requests to do a lookup for either census, death index, birth index, or marriage index. I will, however, request s contribution to defray costs of copies and postage. Please include the county and state; I am on more than one mailing list. Thanks. Monica

I have just made an update adding 1,300 persons, 826 direct descendants. I have also set up a separate mailing list to notify people of updates for those who want to opt out of the lists. EMAIL me a request. If you are on the notify list and want off, please let me know. This web site encompasses 40,237 individuals out of a total database of 59,569 relatives. Direct descendants of Richard Wright, Sr. include 27,785. The rest are closely related. Major Surnames include Allen, Cauble Colglazier, Cooley, Gilstrap, Goss, Hazel, Hill, Hinds, Johnson, Marshall, Martin, Monical, Morgan, Moss, Mullenix, Naugle, Parrish, Purlee, Ratts, Voyles, Wingler, Wright and Zink. Hello Everyone, Sorry I had a typo on this ... Rachel Wood and Peter Wrights License date was 3/12/1812, not 1832. Marsha IL -----Original Message----- From: Sent: Sunday, September 02, 2001 10:12 AM To: INWASHIN-L (E-mail) Subject: WOOD/PAVEY/BOLIN/WRIGHT/GUY Rachel (md. Peter WRIGHT, the preacher, Harrison Co, IN Lic. date: 3/12/1832);
According to recently found information, Abraham WOOD (Rev. War Soldier buried in Washington Co) and his first wife (name unknown) was the father of Jane WOOD who apparently was the first wife of Anderson PAVEY. Previously, "family tradition" said that Anderson was first married to a NEWBY (no documentation ever found.) Jane had siblings: John (nothing further); Rachel (md. Peter WRIGHT, the preacher, Harrison Co, IN Lic. date: 3/12/1832); Nancy (married Robert GUY in Wash. Co 12/2/1819); Elisha (believe his 2nd wife was Nancy Hall, md. in 1824, Wash. Co); and Daniel (who was dec'd by 1845 ... was he the Daniel Wood who was shot and killed by Kepley in 1836?) According to Abraham Wood's Rev. War pension applic, he married Mrs. Nancy BOLIN in 1807 in Clermont Co, OH. Her daughter, Barbary Bolin married Samuel PAVEY (brother of Anderson) in 1812, Harrison Co, IN. Although I have books and page numbers (along with this information), I would very much like to obtain copies of the originals on this. Where would be the best place or person to contact for this? If anyone would like further information and details, please don't hesitate to write me. Thanks. Marsha McWilliams IL
