Well, cuz, Most of that information came from a book entitled, The Learned Family, which I stumbled onto many, many years ago, in the home of Myrtle Learned in Dahlgren, Illinois, She was a cousin of my grandfather Brookins, whose mother was Ann Learned. Myrtle Learned was the dau. of Edwin H. Learned, brother to your Daniel Nelson Learned, who, at the time the book was written, resided in Spring Garden, Illinois; and also brother to Ann Learned, who married John Brookins The title page of the book (which is hard-back, about 7"x9", and about 2"thick), reads thusly: THE LEARNED FAMILY (Learned, Larned, Learnard, Larnard, and Larned) BEING DESCENDANTS OF WILLIAM LEARNED WHO WAS AT CHARLESTOWN, MASSACHUSETTS IN 1632 COMPILED BY WILLIAM LAW LEARNED IN PART FROM THE PAPERS OF THE LATE JOSEPH GAY EATON LARNED _____________ SECOND EDITION ENLARGED ALBANY WEED=PARSONS PRINTING COMPANY 1898 I have since acquired a copy of this book, also many years ago, from Goodspeed's Book Shop in Boston, Massachusetts.
