Warrick Co Ind --------------- Thursday Feb 6 1879 John Achey and Wm Merrick were hung for murder at Indianapolis on Wed Jan 29th,They had been tried and found guilty of murder in first degree. John Achey and Wm Merrick were the first gallows fruit gathered in Marion County. Death of printer Edward Bodine a well known printer and a former attache of the Journal news room,He died of consumption at his residence on Divison St between 5th and 6th St early yesterday morn.
