    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Surnames: Robertson, Arnold, Orange, Scarbrough, Hart, Goad, Schwindt, Lechner Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/Si.2ADI/1531.2 Message Board Post: Margaret McElheny was born 13 May 1797 in Pennsylvania or Logansport IN (DAR records show Logansport - I don't know where we found PA). She married John McClary about 1816, and had 5 children: Thomas, Robert, John, Elizabeth "Betty" (who married a Stevens), and Minerva (who married John B. Kelley). John McClary died about 1838, and we have seen a document with Thomas Hudspeth signing a bond for the care of the minor children. Margaret later married a Whitman, who ran the Farmer's Hotel in Boonville (it stood across the street North of the Elk's Club -- there is an optometrist's office on the site now). Mr. Whitman had some disease - maybe Parkinson's - that caused him to tremble; the family called it the "Whitman jerks." When Margaret died, 20 April 1872, she was buried at the cemetery at Spurgeon IN (Pike Co). She was buried as Margaret McClary, because her children paid for the marker. This is from notes that my mother, Margaret Hart Robertson, took from her grandmother, Margaret Frances Kelley Goad, who was the daughter of Minerva McClary Kelley, and the granddaughter of Margaret McElheny. The name is spelled McElheny in Mother's notes. I am glad to see your information about Mr. Whitman, and will add it to ours. Sorry, but we don't know where he is buried. Maybe someone else will have more information.
