Ira Caswell, one of the oldest and most prominent citizens of Hart township, died on the 16th, at his residence, four miles south east of this place, in the 65th year of his age. The deceased had been a resident of this township for over 40 years, had been a member of the church for a number of years and was a christian in truth and deed. He was not only a professor, but he was a possessor of that pure and undefiled religion which casteth out all fear. In the wide circle of his friends and acquaintances his integrity and honesty was equal to his bond, for none doubted his word. He lived and died without an enemy. Being blessed with a competency of this world's goods. He did not use his wealth for his own benefit alone, but feeling that it was placed in his hands for humane and religious purposes, he gave it freely to the poor and needy.
